Let’s Talk About Those Green Lines On Samsung Phones! by invincible560(op): 10:19pm On Dec 29, 2025
Hey fellow Samsung enthusiasts!

I’ve been meaning to start this thread for a while now, but you know how life gets—like trying to get the last slice of pizza at a party! 🍕 Anyway, I wanted to bring up something we all seem to be experiencing: those pesky green lines on our beloved Samsung screens. It turns out that about 70% of Samsung users are dealing with this issue. Yep, you heard that right—seven out of ten Samsung users you see on the road might be sporting a green-lined masterpiece! 🎨

Now, don’t panic! This thread isn’t about fixing the green line situation (we’ve all got our favourite DIY fixes and tech hacks for that). Instead, let’s focus on preventive steps we can take to avoid running into this quirky issue if we do manage to fix it.

Feel free to share your personal stories and insights about your experiences with these green lines. How many do you have on your Samsung right now? And what model are you rocking? Let’s keep it light-hearted and insightful!

Looking forward to hearing from all of you! Let’s tackle this together—after all, we’re all in this green line club together! 🤣🙌

Cheers!

Re: Let’s Talk About Those Green Lines On Samsung Phones! by Esthered:
I woke up to 1 line in December 2024 for a UK used bought in March same year. About a year later, half of the screen is covered with lines. The phone fell 2 weeks ago and the touch function of the screen at the top stopped working. I can't switch off the phone anymore. I now use Bixby to turn of the phone, rotate the screen....

I still bought another Samsung as I've not used any other brand for 12 years now.

This is common with older models, especially the S20 series and phones with curved displays.

70% is pure exaggeration sha.

Just prevent the phone from overheating. You can read reviews about an OS update before updating your phone. Try not to place the phone in your bed while sleeping or else you will rest on it. Finally, always put your phone on dark mode and power saving mode.

Buy newer models; from S23 series or go for top tier midrange phones like the A56 and A36
Shalom!

Older versions, especially the S series, tend to have screen issues. My A series, however, has had no screen problems since last year, despite falling from my hand several times

To be honest, the battery of Samsung phones is not very durable

I've been using Samsung since Galaxy S, I used literally all the flagship from Galaxy S to Z Fold 7 and for once I've never experienced this green line.
I think the green line can occur from falls or those who bought a well used Samsung phone.
Re: Let’s Talk About Those Green Lines On Samsung Phones! by Bouncingbabyboy(m): 8:47am On Dec 30, 2025
It's happening to pixel phones too
Pink and Green lines
They call it "planned obsolescence"
They don't build items to last again
Things are made to go faulty so you can spend new money after 12 months on another gadget

The issue is more common with phones using AMOLED displays.
The funny and annoying thing is that the displays are expensive due to the technology.
Imagine buying a Samsung OEM screen that cost as much if not more than an iPhone in the same category.

This guy I quoted below has said aa few of the things that we would need to avoid the colored lines issues.
I will add more.

1. Avoid overheating your phone. You can over heat your phone by running too many apps and features at the same time or by using graphics intensive apps and games for too long. Using your phone at peak brightness for long periods outside, especially when it's hot, will also cause overheating.
2. Avoid models with curved OLED screens, they are the devices that suffer the colored lines issues the most but that doesn't mean every curved OLED will suffer that fate.
3. Try to always use dark mode, not to say that light mode causes "green line" issues but it will help you prevent screen burn-in especially when you use high screen brightness frequently.
4. Allow your phone to rest!
5. Use Samsung's colour screensaver while you charge your phone. Yes, I said screensaver not screenguard. You will find it in your phone's settings. It also reportedly helps against screen burn-in.
6. Set your "screen timeout" in settings to less than two minutes, this helps to prevent burn-in too.
Do these 6 things and you've greatly reduced the risk of "green lines" and screen burn-in.

I stopped using Samsung phones because of screen issues...

I have up to 6 Samsung phones packed somewhere I stopped using due to screen issues.

To fix the screen is as good as buying a new phone because of the cost. I remember fixing one particular one and the screen went bad again in less than a month.

Who wants to be spending money constantly on phone screens and changing phones so I just stopped.

But I love Samsung phones the screens just discourage me!

It's the display technology causing those issues, it's amoled screen issues. Unless you avoid phones with amoled displays. Ordinary Samsung phones from other series don't develop those issues. It's mostly Samsung Galaxy S series

Oh' Sammy the background of technology..
These S series, green line and costly screen of a thing pushed me away..

Even till date check the price of Samsung s10,, since 2019 ,, going to 6 years now, the phone the screen is unbearable..

Why nah .. I thought the old the device, the reduce the price but not for Sammy lol

I disabled my app update
the update causes Phone to heat
and also I😀 avoid using phone in direct sunlight and I avoid letting the phone heat up too much
though mine hasn't heated up much before

Heat is the major cause of the green lines, it is very imperative to use Samsung with caution.

Dont update via OTA, it generates excessive heat during the software update causing damages to the led pixels

Just make sure you have a stable ROM on it, unstable ROM causes the phone to crashes, and eventually makes it to heat up

Its irony because most of the phones having those green lines are old S series. I think the updates Samsung is pushing into those devices is making it generate heats that eventually breaks them
