Too many events might overwhelm traffic, security, crowd safety, emergency response etc.

Those saying this cancellation is because of Eyo are incorrect IMO. New events are not cancelled because a past one had challenges.

Events planners simply learn lessons and make plans to avoid mistakes that beset previous events. As simple as that.

Notting Hill Carnival in the UK is very big and well-attended by many from across the globe. There have been challenging years with several stabbings and even deaths.

Yet organisers simply learn lessons and liaise with police so that the next one is safer. It's the norm globally.

Can you list just 3 out of the thousands of merry making events you claimed would grind the state to a halt

Fine might have been a genuine reason but you don't manage people's emotion like dat as a leader. If security is the reason, let people have an idea. If economic , tag it economic commitment or something - you don't just come out and cancel a culture that people have attached emotions to over time...some would have even made some financial/business commitment while anticipating and projecting
