NAF AIRSTRIKES FLATTENED IED HUB, NEUTRALISES BANDITS AT TURBA HILL AND KACHALLA DOGO SULE’S CAMP The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) under the auspices of the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Sector 2, has recorded a major operational success in its sustained offensive against armed banditry with the execution of two high-impact precision Air Interdiction (AI) missions on 28 December 2025 at Turba Hill and Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp, both in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Acting on credible, multi-source intelligence, NAF air assets were deployed against bandit enclaves at the identified locations. The first strike targeted Turba Hill, a confirmed bandit hideout. Persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance revealed significant human activity and an operational zinc-roofed structure assessed to be central to the enclave’s activities. Following positive identification, the target was engaged with precision, resulting in a direct hit. Post-strike battle damage assessment confirmed the complete destruction of the structure and the neutralisation of several bandits. The second AI mission was conducted at Kachalla Dogo Sule’s Camp, a notorious bandit stronghold identified as a key IED manufacturing and operational hub. Intelligence had linked the camp to the planning and execution of recent IED attacks along the Dan Sadau–Magami axis. The precision strike successfully engaged multiple active structures within the enclave, triggering intense fires that destroyed the facilities and neutralised several bandits, effectively crippling the group’s IED production and deployment capability. These decisive air strikes represent a significant degradation of bandit networks operating in Zamfara State, particularly their capacity to manufacture and employ improvised explosive devices. The operations reaffirm the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment, working in close coordination with other components of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to deny criminal elements safe havens, degrade their combat effectiveness, and support ongoing joint efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the North-West and the nation at large. |

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI NEUTRALISE TERRORIST SUICIDE BOMBERS IN BORNO STATE Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully neutralised three terrorist suicide bombers following a deliberate, intelligence-driven operation conducted along the Guduf–Pulka axis in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. The operation, executed through covert intelligence efforts by troops in collaboration with local volunteer forces, led to the tracking and neutralisation of the suicide bombers before they could carry out planned attacks on innocent civilians. During the encounter, suicide vests and other improvised explosive device (IED) materials in the possession of the terrorists were recovered and safely secured. Troops also inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorist escorts accompanying the suicide bombers. The surviving elements fled into the Mandara Mountains under pressure from sustained troop action. In the course of exploitation, troops recovered four AK-47 rifles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists, while two motorcycles used by the terrorists were destroyed. Preliminary intelligence assessments indicate that the neutralised suicide bombers were dispatched from the Mandara Mountains by the Ali Ngulde-led Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram terrorists. Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified efforts to detect, track, and neutralise suicide bombers and other terrorist elements operating from this enclave, leveraging human intelligence, communication intercepts, and other intelligence-gathering capabilities. The Theatre Command, Operation HADIN KAI, has continued to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies as well as community-based volunteer forces across Borno and Yobe States to forestall terrorist attacks on soft targets and protect innocent citizens. In addition, public enlightenment campaigns have been intensified to encourage vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious movements or persons within communities. Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute and committed to sustaining offensive pressure on terrorist elements, degrading their operational capabilities, and ensuring the safety and security of the populace within the theatre of operations. NAF COORDINATES RESPONSE AND RECOVERY OF UAV FOLLOWING LOSS OF LINK DURING ROUTINE OPERATION In line with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF)’s commitment to sustaining intense counter-insurgency efforts, one of its unmanned aerial vehicles was deployed on a routine mission today, 2 January 2026, within the Operation FASAN YAMMA Sector 3 area, during which it experienced a loss of link. All efforts to restore the link proved abortive; accordingly, in line with established procedures, the crew initiated emergency return-to-base actions, while the NAF immediately activated coordinated response and recovery measures in collaboration with sister Services and relevant authorities. The platform has since been contained, with assessment and recovery activities progressing as planned. Relevant technical teams have secured the platform and commenced preliminary evaluations in line with established safety and operational procedures. There has been no loss of life, and operational activities across all theatres continue uninterrupted. The NAF reassures the public of its continued professionalism and operational focus, as counter-insurgency operations proceed unabated in the interest of national security. NAF sustains air strikes, cripples terrorist networks in North-East, North-West The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained a series of coordinated, intelligence-led air interdiction operations across the North-East and North-West, dealing significant blows to terrorist networks and denying them safe havens. NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said in a statement on Friday that the operations were conducted between Jan. 1 and Jan. 2, 2026, under the joint task forces of Operations Hadin Kai and Fasan Yamma Sector 2. Ejodame said the air strikes were executed based on actionable intelligence on terrorist intent, movement and logistics, with air assets deployed to strike identified hideouts, movement routes and assembly areas. He said the operations were aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement, operational depth and sanctuary within Nigeria’s territory. “In the North-East theatre, successive precision strikes were delivered against deeply concealed terrorist enclaves at Abirma and Chiralia within the Timbuktu Triangle, following persistent surveillance that confirmed active facilities linked to improvised explosive device production and attack planning,” he said. According to him, the strikes led to the complete destruction of the targeted structures, with multiple secondary explosions observed, indicating the elimination of explosive stockpiles and critical logistics. He added that follow-on interdiction operations at Guva in the Mandara Mountains further dismantled terrorist storage and coordination nodes, severely degrading their ability to regroup, resupply or mount attacks. The spokesman said the air campaign was simultaneously extended to the North-West, where a decisive interdiction mission was carried out around Karaduwa Giginya Na in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. He said terrorist elements moving in large motorcycle convoys were tracked and engaged at a forested convergence point. “Post-strike assessments and corroborated local feedback confirmed the neutralisation of several terrorists, the destruction of multiple motorcycles and the elimination of assorted weapons,” Ejodame said. He said the sustained multi-theatre strikes underscored the NAF’s airpower presence, rapid strike capability and resolve to dismantle terrorist networks. The spokesman assured Nigerians that the operations would continue with precision, persistence and professionalism in support of ground forces. He said the NAF remained committed to protecting civilians, supporting national security objectives and restoring peace and stability across all theatres of operation. |

TROOPS FOIL BANDITS’ MOVEMENT, NEUTRALIZE CRIMINALS AND ARREST LOGISTICS SUPPLIER IN COORDINATED OPERATIONS IN KOGI STATE Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army Lokoja on 3 January 2026 have recorded significant operational successes following coordinated fighting patrols and ambush operations conducted across parts of Kabba Bunu and Yagba West Local Government Areas of Kogi State. Acting on credible intelligence on movement of bandits from Adankolo general area towards Agbadu Bunu in Kabba Bunu LGA, troops swiftly deployed and laid a deliberate ambush at bandit identified crossing point. The bandits subsequently ran into the troops’ ambush position and were engaged, forcing them to withdraw with indications of casualties as blood stains were observed during exploitation of the area. In the course of the encounter, troops neutralized two bandits and recovered one AK 47 rifle, one magazine, ninety nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one locally fabricated gun and eleven cartridges. In a related development, further intelligence revealed movement of bandits around Saminaka village in Yagba West LGA. Troops, in conjunction with local vigilantes, conducted a fighting patrol to the village and adjoining forested areas. On arrival, the village was observed to have been deserted, prompting troops to dismount and exploit the surrounding forest and routes leading towards the Saminaka Sabo Rijiya road. Troops made contact with an unconfirmed number of bandits and engaged them, leading to their withdrawal through the forest. During subsequent exploitation, troops traced the withdrawal route and discovered one neutralized bandit, one AK 47 rifle and seventeen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. During the same operation, troops also arrested a suspected bandit logistics supplier identified as Sunday Adedotun, from Odo Eri village in Yagba West LGA. The suspect was apprehended on a farmland within Saminaka village and claimed to assist farmers in transporting produce after harvest. Items discovered at the settlement included cartons of energy and soft drinks, bottled water and harvested farm produce. The suspect is currently in custody undergoing investigation. The series of operations underscores the sustained pressure being mounted by troops against criminal elements within the area and their support networks. The Commander 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi commended the troops for their professionalism, courage and timely response to credible intelligence, noting that their actions reflect the high level of commitment to duty. He further assured the public that troops will continue to sustain aggressive patrols, ambushes and intelligence driven operations to deny criminal elements freedom of action within the area.
