Some years ago, I was in FUTO. I left my lodge to an all night in ikenegbu. It was my state headquarters, I was a leader in the campus fellowship.


Nobody from FUTO came because obviously many students had gone back home. I didn't want to go home. I needed to use that time to pray and fast.


Service finished few minutes past 12. I asked to sleep in church since I couldn't actually be heading back to FUTO that night.



Omo, dem no gree me sleep. The painful part was that they knew me.


I had to sleep in front of one photo studio like that.


It was painful.

This was 9 years ago.

I Started thinking of the danger I exposed myself to that night. I'm grateful to God that I was protected. No evil happened that day.


However, I learnt a lesson. Not to tempt God in a country like Nigeria.

3 years ago, I decided I will stop attending the cross over night service.

Any service that can not last till at least 5 am, count me out.

I have stopped attending cross over services for 3 years now. I join online if I have the chance.

Whatever is not founded on truth will fail. There is nothing called crossover night in the Bible so you can't expect humans to set up something that's not scriptural yet hoping it will be taken seriously as truth!😟

Why didn't they allow you sleep, what was their reasons

Cross over service now will only bring flashes of that bandit attack on the church that was live streamed.

I rather follow the livestream online than to be a conspicuous taget in the middle of the night by men of the underworld who know people will be wandering around in the middle of the night.

That na your own palava.... As for me, I can't miss it

Crossover service is clubbing for the faithful. It’s why it doesn’t last till 5 a.m. Clubs normally close by 4 in the morning. I suspect it will be the same for crossover events.

You and person wey do crossover for nightclub no different. Na how una choose to express unaselves different.

If say bad man catch you for that studio, you for just cross over like that 😂😂

This is a very honest reflection. Serving God sometimes comes with discomfort and sacrifice “endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ” (2 Timothy 2:3).
However, faith must walk hand in hand with wisdom, especially in a country like ours. God’s protection does not cancel personal responsibility. Thank God for preservation, and thank you for sharing a lesson many people need to reflect on, particularly during crossover nights.

It's not a must u can pray on yr house and cross over, but no the less know Bible for urself stop revering to past incidents to say I won't do this or that, human beings are different yr church officials is not same with every other else

I went for crossover night 2018 and my house was broke into and my electronics were catered away by burglars, since then I have stopped going for crossover night.

You obviously didn’t learn the main lesson

My wife is now disturbing me with NSSPD ABI NNPD cross over and if I try arguing with her issues go plenty so make she do her thing . Me I’m more focused on how to enter better country and make bigger money in 2026.

Today is actually the day you will see all those commiting all sorts of wickedness in church, asking God for peace, after ruining people's life.

I was expecting to hear something tangible only to see this.
To me is not enough reason.
Personally am not a fan of crossover bcox I Blv that you can pray in your room.

Just because something is not in the Bible doesn't make it false, illegal or irrational. Culture and traditions vary with time and place, but as long as a practice doesn't outrightly contradict the teachings of Jesus Christ, there's no need condemning it or those who engage in it

I crossover on my bed, it's just another day. I can't deceive myself with sentimentality.

Have you noticed that during crossover night the bar empties its members to the churches but after crossover, the churches empties its members to the bar?

Na here me I dey. Chilled beer, grilled meat and soft music. I no dey do church thing. After all, a number of pastors are owing me money for jobs done and my repeated calls and messages have been ignored. Let them keep deceiving themselves.

Me and you are the same I swear. I don't have any bad experience. I just don't get the logic behind endangering your lives by putting your family on the road at 1-2 am because you want to cross over physically in church.

If church was within my estate or if the service is going to last till 6 am, I'm totally in. Otherwise, I'll join virtually.

Sacrifice? Oga Afghanistan is 99% Muslim and many of them never heard of christ. Why don't you go there and spread the gospel of our lord?

I remember a particular year on a cross over night when Late Don Wani opened fire on people coming back from service. Killing many.

That was the beginning of his end.

There have been multiple incidences of people getting killed, robbed or assaulted while returning from church at ungodly hours.
