Some years ago, I was in FUTO. I left my lodge to an all night in ikenegbu. It was my state headquarters, I was a leader in the campus fellowship.


Nobody from FUTO came because obviously many students had gone back home. I didn't want to go home. I needed to use that time to pray and fast.


Service finished few minutes past 12. I asked to sleep in church since I couldn't actually be heading back to FUTO that night.



Omo, dem no gree me sleep. The painful part was that they knew me.


I had to sleep in front of one photo studio like that.


It was painful.

This was 9 years ago.

I Started thinking of the danger I exposed myself to that night. I'm grateful to God that I was protected. No evil happened that day.


However, I learnt a lesson. Not to tempt God in a country like Nigeria.

3 years ago, I decided I will stop attending the cross over night service.

Any service that can not last till at least 5 am, count me out.

I have stopped attending cross over services for 3 years now. I join online if I have the chance.

That tradition isn't popular outside the continent

These people are going into the church to thank God for their lives for the year and to pray for the incoming year. They want the new year to meet them in the house of God as they believe that will be pleasing to Him.
Ask yourself, if Jesus was a Pastor anywhere on earth today, do you think he would send away any one that came into his church to "crossover" to the new year, or use the opportunity to welcome them, make them feel comfortable, preach to them and lead them into the Kingdom?

Sacrifice in Christianity is not a competition of who goes to the most dangerous place. It is about obedience, faithfulness, and wisdom. The Bible says, “It is required of stewards that one be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2). God calls people differently, and serving Him responsibly where you are does not make your faith inferior.

Well the Bible God totally differs from all other Gods who don't have a say in what their worshipers choose to do for them {Psalms 115:4-8} they made their own Gods so they state how to do things for their Gods but the Bible God determines how things are done in His own house so there will be ORDERLINESS {1Corinthans 14:33} that's what is missing in paganism where each person decides for his or her own God! 1Samuel 15:22

Next time use your voice to represent what you believe in. As a leader, you should have used that experience to campaign for better logistics for members that cannot go back by early morning like you. If the church cannot make better plans, then why bother? Quick fix would have been starting late and closing late. There are other options that you guys can explore.

Jesus has a small group that he chose to lead his organization that's the import of Apostles in the gathering of disciples {Luke 6:13} that is the group he meant and Paul said all disciples of Christ must be submissive to them! Hebrews 13:7

Did his father establish "WORKING FOR GOVERNMENT AND BEING UNDER THEIR PAYROLL?" Give an example from Jesus and his disciples or where Jesus Father from where you quoted approved the above.
Let's sort this issue once and for all.

Today is like a normal days in the eyes of God, today is selected in the world to mark a lot of memories and also eve to add another year. Pray in your house and rest, nothing is special here, many people will die tomorrow, tomorrow will continue as it used to be . Think how your life will get better. Am on my bed now, expect to sleep anytime soon, nothing move me , tomorrow is not different , is just a change of date.

God do not intend that his children fellowship will be restricted by time. He has given his children the brain to fellowship at any time and any day that is convenient for them or agreed upon and some have chosen a day and time like this. Remember that Sabbath was not the intention of God. The intention of God was to make us serve and reference him everyday and any time.
Abi tell me where you read am say na only Frida and Sunday we must meet as believers or na during the day (morning/afternoon) it must be.

No gymnastics here. Christianity is not dare-devilism. The Bible teaches sacrifice and wisdom. Even Jesus avoided danger when His time had not come. Calling is discerned through obedience, counsel, opportunity, and fruit, not by online dares or mockery.
If every believer must prove faith by relocating to hostile nations, then parenting, integrity at work, charity, and everyday righteousness would mean nothing. Service is lived daily, not performed for applause.
