2026 Outlook: Tinubu Pledges Strong Economic Rebound by Kuginzi(op): 7:58am On Jan 01
President Bola Tinubu has declared that 2026 marks the beginning of a more robust phase of economic growth for Nigeria, pledging to drive down inflation further, strengthen foreign reserves and sustain the country’s GDP growth trajectory.

In his New Year message to Nigerians on Thursday, the President expressed confidence in the nation’s collective resolve, saying the new year would be a more prosperous one for the country, its citizens, and all who call Nigeria home.

Tinubu argued that during 2025, his administration sustained momentum on major reforms, achieved a fiscal reset and recorded steady economic progress. Despite persistent global economic headwinds, he said, Nigeria recorded tangible and measurable gains, particularly in the economy.

“These achievements reaffirm our belief that the difficult but necessary reforms we embarked upon are moving us in the right direction with more concrete results on the horizon for the ordinary Nigerian,” he stated.

The President disclosed that Nigeria closed 2025 on a strong note, with annualised GDP growth expected to exceed four per cent for the year.

Trade surpluses were maintained and greater exchange rate stability was achieved, while inflation declined steadily to below 15 per cent, in line with his administration’s target.

“In 2026, we are determined to reduce inflation further and ensure that the benefits of reform reach every Nigerian household,” he said.

Tinubu pointed to the performance of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, which, he said, posted a robust 48.12 per cent gain in 2025, consolidating its bullish run that began in the second half of 2023.

On foreign reserves, he disclosed that sound monetary policy management had seen reserves stand at $45.4bn as of December 29, 2025, providing a substantial buffer against external shocks for the Naira. He expressed optimism that this position would strengthen further in the new year.

Foreign direct investment, the President noted, was also responding positively. In the third quarter of 2025, FDI rose to $720m, up from $90m in the preceding quarter, reflecting renewed investor confidence in Nigeria’s economic direction, which global credit rating agencies, including Moody’s, Fitch, and Standard & Poor’s, had consistently affirmed and applauded.

Aura counts in all things...

The past precedes the future...

I have learnt a lot from the person of tinubu - how the world's perception of your personality can seal one's destiny in time.

A paltry $700m investment inflow only tells one thing - The investors distrust of the person in the king's chair.

I know tinubu will only wished he can rewrite his pasts, which have significantly steer the wheels of his life till this moment.

Power is not enough... Alluring and clandestine power is. Power that stirs the emotion of the people to the heavenly realms of love outpouring. Not power that can only be exercised when enticed and extracted through crumbs deposited into the bowls of beggarly, destitute beings with no self worth whatsoever.

It's unfortunate.

What I learned from tinubu is to ensure, at least, a moderately positive projection of perception of one's persona.

Be all the devil you can be, only for the nights, and ensure the day sees you has one with good will and deeds.

One mistake can cost you so much leading you through the tunnel of regrets.

Power only is not enough... Enthralling power is.

His 400m naira wrist watch came to mind.

Keep deceiving yourself and your supporters.

No doubt Peter Obi is a very good man. Sometimes I thank God he didn't win. He would have received possibly the greatest challenge in his life in leading a nation so polarised.

How much of what he and All Promises Cancelled, APC pledged to do in the last decade have been fulfilled?

If they have failed to fulfill their past pledges, then why should any reasonable Nigerian believe their new ofege lines huh

Instead of making things better for us like we were promised, APC and Tinubu have made everything worse. Everything. Worse.

Nemere2020:
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Chief Olawale Edun has said the last time Nigeria’s economy looked stable was about a decade ago.

He made this statement during his maiden press conference as Minister of Finance where he outlined President Bola Tinubu’s vision, agenda and strategy for the economy.

He said, “I think as we all know, we are not where we should be. The economy is barely growing above the rate of population growth.

“But it was not always so, and I think in trying to look at the way forward, if we now have a situation of slow growth, double-digit inflation, weak/depreciating exchange rate, as well as security concerns that are resulting in an economy that is not growing and not taking Nigerians out of poverty.

“If we think back to the last time when the economy was stable- when it was growing, when inflation was low, and the interest rate was affordable, that period was about a decade ago. Growth was about 6% in 2013 and 2014.”

It’s now 27 years since Tinubu has been posting 20 million Lagosians in the same way to keep them in bondage to his TAX monster plan.

What good life have Lagosians seen in those years?

What unprecedented boom in government services and public utilities has occurred since 1999 to reflect the 100 times increase in IGR and budget from greater tax burden on Lagos people?

If he is stealing all the money to bribe politicians and buy votes from deliberately impoverished and badly educated people, to retain power then why do you think he will change his winning strategy in Abuja huh

When Funke Olakurin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti was murdered instead of Bola Tinubu to make sure that the perpetrators were brought to book, he ended up making fun of the death of the young lady by turning everything into tribalism by showing his hates for Igbos.

Tinubu has never spoken against the deadly activities of Fulani herdsmen across the country

Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.

Those arrested suspects include Lawal Mazaje, 40, from Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada area of Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela area of Sokoto State and Auwal Abubakar, 25, from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State....

However, the leader of the team, identified only as Tambaya, and three others are yet to be found.

Tambaya has been declared wanted by the police and he is said to be capable of communicating in Hausa, Fulfude and Pidgin English.
