Its hard registering and getting jobs from Upwork.
Miramonica:
We know smart people by them googling about things and not asking what it means here. Someone mentioned workflow automation...instead of asking him what it is, I immediately googled it and found out.

This 2026, make it a duty to conduct research.

Please I'm not targeting anyone oo.

That being Said, I will advice anyone serious to upgrade his or her life to learn a digital skill and Hussle on Upwork. There's money in that freelancing platform.

God bless us all.

Can you explain this video editing. What does it really mean?

And how can one make income from it?
Mcslize:
If I advise you on something and you take it lightly, you have yourself to blame. My advices are always on point.

I speak not from a place of canal mind but from a place of ancient wisdom, logic and sharp instinct.

If you want to learn a digital skill, try and learn project management to become a project manager.

You heard me right. Project management is the go to for you.

But if you don't like that one, then learn video editing to become a video editor and be very good at it. You will never run out of jobs.

What do you mean by trading. Forex trade?
epainos:
Many skills can make you money if you know your way around it; however, you need to learn the following if you are from a third-nation like Naija so as to have an edge:

1. Generative AI
2. Machine Learning Engineering
3. Predictive Analytics (Data Science, Business & Marketing analytics)....Data engineering.

The three above specialties are what I believe we should go into in 2026. Generative AI is booming seriously, but quite a tough one. It may take you like 2 years or more to get there. But you can master foundational skills for AI within a year and goy will get job as a data analyst or maybe as a junior ML.

If you are smart, you can pick it up and within 1 year get a low paying job which is huge in naira. Save bro/sis and keep learning. What Next? Japa!!!! UK skilled visa....or whatever. Or get into a digital company and work for 3 years and japa to UK as a global talent applicant, or skilled stuff. Or even via student if you can easily get UK school fees from your job.

The one I know is ever gree and you will NEVER lack in your life is trading. Learn how to trade. If you can perfect this, just forget it.....you are for ever made.

As for me, I don't tell people to learn apps or software that can easily be replaced by another disruptive tech created by AI. So, why don't you just learn AI and keep upgrading yourself. You will never be pushed out if you go into it. Some years back na salesforce and bla bla bla a dey hear. The boom isn't like before. And give it 5 years, it may just be there, or can still be used ...but many will be able to use it like MSWord that it will be hard to make good money with it. Just my thought. So, the automation recommendation here using software and apps to me is just a fluke. E go die later...but if you can learn now and make good money to do something before e knock.....why not?

Best of luck.

It is good. There are still many areas that I didn't mention in my past post. I focused more on AI. And it is because of its longevity. Other areas won't fade away easily too, excelt the skill is only app or software based. But with what AI is doing, someone can wake up anyday and create a library Python that does some crazy unbelievable tasks. Anyway, anyone going into these area should make sure Python, maths, & statistics are part of the skills needed for the area he is going into. One may may know all very well, but should make sure can easily learn and use them. Python is very essential. I will say, it's the most important tool one cannot run away from.

Trading is simple building our analytical mind. Seeing patterns and using them well. It's exactly what data scientists does. It's how uccessful marketing, sales, election campaigns are achieved today.

Trading goes beyond forex, and frorex can be a good start. There are so many instruments one can trade but the basic is the same. Risk management and knowing instruments to avoid is another key. US citizens are discouraged from trading forex, unless they are into proprietary trading. The whole world economy is trading...thisnis wall streets.

People who tell you to never trade forex that it's a scam buy shares from the stock market. Lol. And they don't know they are doing exactly the same. Trading skills does not mean one becomes a day trader, one can use the skill to even pick companies one can buy the stocks and become a board member.

You don't trade just currency, you can trade commodities. And I smile when Nigerian importers and exporters don't cover some of their risks with trading.

Trading is an evergreen skill universities aren't encouraged to teach. You teach such and every knows how to pluck money, how billionaires go still exist? E no possible...na everyone wonder hustle na.

Exactly. A lot of beginners don't get to know this one particular truth.

By March, I will clock 4 years in the industry. That's equivalent to the time required to acquire a bachelor degree in the university for some courses.

It was close to quarter 4 of last year that I ended up finding my repeatable edge after 3 years and some months of not giving up.

Right now, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) is in very high demand. in-fact it tops all others.

Followed by these in no particular order:

Data Engineering

Data Science

Data Analysis
Remove data analysis and science from your list as that is the first sector AI will eradicate. Data analysis plays to the strength of AI. Even at learning stage AI is very good at analysing data. Unless you can be better and faster than AI in that regard.

Nope.

AI will only automate parts of data analysis, not eradicate data analysis or data science.

AI cannot define the right questions, understand real business or social context, decide what data truly matters, or reliably detect flawed assumptions, bias, and misleading correlations. It also cannot translate insights into accountable real-world decisions or exercise ethical judgment.

AI will only replace routine data cleaning, basic descriptive statistics, simple dashboards, repetitive database queries, and standard reporting tasks ( tell if it is important, misleading, or something to take action on without human feedback).

Can you describe data analysis. What does it entail?
It is something like looking at information which is normally a dataset, cleaning it up, and finding patterns or answers that help people make better decisions.

Just google or use ChatGPT for better understanding.

From the little knowledge I've acquired while learning, I can say that there's no organization that doesn't needs a Data analyst or Data scientist as the case may be.

Data analysis is simply using information (numbers, records, data) to understand what is happening and make better decisions.

You'll need these skills to do data analysis:

Excel: to record, clean and calculate data. Excel is more broader than what most people think. I got to know this when I started learning it.

SQL: to ask questions from large databases (big Excel) if you're working with large data , you'll need SQL skill.

Tableau / Power BI: to turn numbers into charts and dashboards. Tableau and Power BI are meant for visual representation of your findings.

Data science is a more advanced version of data analysis While data analysis explains what happened data science tries to predict what will happen next.

For Data science uses, you'll need to learn Python, Machine learning, Advanced statistics.

It's actually a long journey.
You can start learning Excel(Data analysis with Excel), then move to Tableau, SQL...

I trade purely price action. My strategy consists of market structure, support and resistance, supply and demand and liquidity.

What about yours? What strategy are you focusing on?

It's definitely a bit discouraging. This year, my focus is shifting toward either AI video creation for YouTube or diving into coding—that’s the roadmap for 2026. My main challenge right now is finding a solid mentor. I’ve realized I don't learn well by just aimlessly scrolling through YouTube tutorials; I really need a structured, step-by-step curriculum to stay on track.
You can try the likes of ALX or Altschool africa if possible.

Don't have a very short term focus, thinking money will start rushing in asap. That's why many give up after learning cos nothing is coming up immediately, not realizing good things sometimes takes time and effort. The harder the skill the more opportunitites basically.
