Tifay:Here's what I found: Applicants and visa processors commonly handle it as follows (based on experiences shared by successful applicants): 1) If you have friends, family, or acquaintances in Germany → Enter their details (select "Person" as the reference type). This is a frequent and accepted option. 2)If you have a planned accommodation (e.g., hotel, Airbnb, or initial hostel) → Select "Educational establishment/company/organisation" (or similar) and enter the accommodation details (name, address, contact). Some treat it like a temporary host, similar to tourist visas. 3)If you have no contacts or bookings yet → The section may not block submission, but to be safe, use details of a planned initial stay (e.g., a hotel you intend to book) or note that it's for job search/accommodation search. https://www.reddit.com/r/germany/comments/1e1fz4y/chancenkarte_videx_application_reference_section/

Talk2Bella:No sir, I doubt if it is a system glitch. They only send that email once a month on a very particular date you made your application to inform you of the reactivation of your application or to know if you are still interested in the application, counting until your preliminary review. All you need to do is log in anytime you receive the email in that particular month to show that you are still interested in joining the preliminary review stage |

What I used is Person and I believe most ppl here used same. The person needs to be a legal resident in Germany, doesn't need to be related to you or anything of that sort, you'll provide their name, DOB, address and I think relationship. In recent times, they also require you to upload a copy of the person's residency permit. Tifay: |

cc150615:Thanks. What about those that dont have anyone over there. What do they put in there? Or are saying only those who used the reference of a German legal resident have successfully scaled through |
| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Singlefile(m): 6:15pm On Dec 26, 2025 |
Tifay:I think you either use some one that is legally living in Germany, Organization, institution or company / employer contact details as your reference. They may even check on the person to attest to your claim during your visa processing |

just to let you know i had the same issue as @talk2bella I first used "reference person" as my reference and then they asked for me to provide first his residence permit but he wasnt a german citizen, he is a european citizen, so i told them and then they asked for me to submit both his passport and Meldebestätigung (proof of residence) My reference was my former boss in germany so i didnt want to ask him for something so private and sensitive. So i changed my reference to Educational establishment/company/organisation and i booked a hotel, inserted the details etc, they then called me and said i needed to submit his passport and Meldebestätigung and they didnt accept my hotel booking. So i had to get his passport and Meldebestätigung to get to the interview stage. i hope theres a way to get over this because people that know no one in germany will have no way for this route to work. Diceman8:Thanks. This is clear. It's why I said it will likely be the next problem being faced. |

One other question. When one leaves the waiting list and before you are asked to submit for the final time - can it be edited and some documents corrected or re-uploaded. or it is what was filled originally you have to submit?. Im asking for those that joined the queue earlier without having the full requirements but have now gotten it by the time you are asked to submit finally |

You will be able to upload a new/additional document but you can't delete the old one. That's why it's always advisable to use your passport data page for such situations. Tifay: |

cc150615:Thanks. You seem to have a good hang of this. Why do you say its advisable to use your passport page. Even if something else was initially uploaded, and you put a new document and the correct one, wouldnt they look at that also? Why does it matter what was previously uploaded if the correct one is now there |

Singlefile:it's a glitch, I got it again today, after signing in yesterday. I also sign in frequently so not sure why i got it multiple times yesterday. |

Diceman8:OMG... when I was asked to upload the PR document and i updated the reference type, the person reviewing my case kept asking me to change it to "Hotel" which was impossible as I had no backend access, when I mentioned it was impossible to do so, they realised this and deleted it themselves then asked me to update videx to hotel, which was/is another impossible task as the OPC videx doesn't have "Hotel" as a reference type.

Yes bro i had alot of issues with them too. For example they told me to make corrections and somehow they disabled the ability to upload documents or add comments. It was frustrating Talk2Bella: |
| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by cc150615(f): 10:14pm On Dec 27, 2025 |
Tifay:The thinking is that if you don't have the required doc yet (eg proof of funds), instead of uploading something irrelevant, if you use your passport, then there'll be no harm if they look at both documents when you now have the valid one and add it. Since you won't be able to delete anything you upload. But again nobody here is the consular we're all just using our own idea to advise, so eventually what you decide to upload is up to you. |

| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Msquare220: 6:14pm On Dec 29, 2025 |
Thank you for your response. I thought one can initiate and enter the waiting list before full submission. I started the process since March but I was not able to submit due to invitation/POF. When I start the process, it was showing the waiting period betweeen 2 to 6 motnhs. Then after couple of months, it started showing 6 to 12 months. But Now, I cant even see it anymore. Attched is the screenshort of the page. Do you have any idea? saxwizard:

Can I submit all my documents and stay on the waiting list while my block account is worked on. Or I must submit the block account with my application to be on the waiting list. Reason why I am asking is that, the block account is the only thing left. |
