How did Anthony Joshua end up in an SUV driven by somone without a valid drivers' license? Like how?

Did they just hop into a random car rental without doing due diligence?

Even ordinary Nigerians don't employ drivers without Drivers license to drive them, not to talk of a superstar like AJ who should care more about his safety
It's his usual driver. It's any anyhowness of the average Nigerian

Joshua is not well versed in how to move in Nigeria hence the useless driver and lack of lead vehicle in his convoy. Lead vehicle would have controlled the movement of the main vehicle. I don't even know why the driver seemingly tried to overtake, he should be maintaining contact with the trailing security vehicle, which is why blown tyre is a possibility

Is it possible that Joshua didn't have a lead vehicle?

No security? I doubt

Very possible there was a lead vehicle, but maybe na Police (which they have been banned from escorting VIPs), so it's better to die that part of the matter down

He had a trailing vehicle which was Police so no need hiding the presence of a lead vehicle

Ohh. I didn't know there was a trailing one.

Na the driver kill them then.

This is for those who always drive without a Driver's license. This guy is most likely going to do decades in prison.

The question is why would the driver try to overtake instead of maintaining contact with the trailing vehicle. . . which brings the possibility that it was blown tire that dragged them that wide of the road

I am sure the car rental company know this and still employ the man, it all falls on the company unless that's AJ car in naija
But the driver is not getting out of this

that car looks like they adjusted it

Well, for me, that isn't any blown tyre cause.

It's very common to see two or three slow trucks trying to overtake each other.

The ideal thing is to stay behind the fastest one, then get enough clearance to overtake it after it has gone through.

That guy probably was impatient, went to the edge on speed, and by the time he realized he couldn't beat the vehicle, he had already crushed the right side of the SUV

If the tyre was blown, the possibility of the impact being on just one side would be low. It probably would have summersaulted, considering the speed he was on

Well it's the Policemen in the trailing vehicle that can confirm what happened

What is confirmed is the car lost control cos there is no need to go that far into the hard shoulder when overtaking unless the vehicle is out of control, the Koko is whether the loss of control is due to over speeding or blown tire. Driver could argue why would he try to overspeed and leave his security vehicle behind, that there must have been a tire failure or mechanical failure that caused the loss of control

Some things I never do whenever I visit Nigeria.

1. Drive myself, irrespective of the distance.
2. Allow any friend or family member drive me.
3. Ride Interstate.
4. Enter Okada.

So AJ's usual driver doesn't have a drivers license?

Are u not seeing a possibility of a liability claim from the members of the deceaseds' families? I mean if AJ employs a Nigeria driver who doesn't own a drivers' license, is he not vicariously liable for the death of his friends caused by the u license driver?

I'm sure there will be a police escort somewhere in his convoy. But the fact that police have been banned from performing escort services, the police authorities won't mention that. Funny thing is the police escort are almost as reckless as normal drivers on the road.

In fact, some escort drivers encourage other vehicles in the vehicle to driver rough.

Maybe I am wrong

But the VIP vehicle can only be in front, if it has a personnel in it.

If it has only the VIP in it, it should be behind, while the trailing vehicle leads

How come Joshua and his friends were in the VIP, without no security, and are in front?

Many drivers are usually the cause of their own accidents.

As much as we know that truck parking on the expressway is wrong, that truck was way far from the lanes. He had no business being there

Many of these guys in escort vehicles or even luxury vehicles have no license.

There was one that happened with the Minister of state, where the driver involved had a fake license

Police & FRSC no dey kuku check them. They stop and ask for money

I remember when I opined here that more searchlight should be beamed on the Governors, some Obidients claimed I was trying to shield Tinubu.

Nigeria must be taken away from the grasp of these wicked Governors but any enemy of Tinubu, is a friend to the Obidients. Bala Muhammad will be in their good books.

The driver will do serous jail term, because our Nigerian authorities are already embarrassed by the whole situation. Now they would want to prove that Nigeria law doesn't condone people driving without license (Even though we all know that's not the case).

Ecwcpt u are a well connected politician or one of the untouchables in this country, it's nit advisable to drive without license because of this kind gbege.

I remember when some vehicles were bought for some members of a state house of assembly few years ago. The SUVs were bought for 21 of them through a bank loan which was being serviced by the house of assembly budget.

Like 2 years into their use of the vehicles, one of the honorrables had an accident with the vehicle which resulted in serious damage and they had to report to the bank to reach out to the insurers for repairs. It was when the bank requested for claim documents that it was revealed that the lawmakers didn't even collect plate number to the vehicles, tbey just used number cover to cover the plate and were driving it with escort. It was also revealed that the particular honorable didn't hold a valid drivers license as at the time of the accident. That would've been a serious issue for any average Nigerian both with the insurer and the police authorities.

But as typical of how things are done in Nigeria, the matter didn't cause any issue at all. Nobody go query honorable why he drove without a license

Anybody driving without a license is a potential terrorist.

I see many people do it. Until you enter wahala, you no go understand the gravity of that offense.

Whenever there's an accident, and the police gets there. The first two questions are

1) Where is the driver?
2) If alive, where's your license?

The moment you don't produce it, na prosecution straight
