coputa:Not in Nigeria. Police in Nigeria have both legal and illegal power to do all the above and "kill and go" at the same time, without prosecution. |

Most people don’t actually know their rights until it’s too late. The police cannot just enter your house without a warrant except in certain urgent cases, and they cannot use excessive force or torture you. They’re also not allowed to hold you indefinitely without charging you or force you to confess. It’s scary how many people get treated badly simply because they don’t know these basic rules. Everyone should really educate themselves on this. |

Pat081:First, know your right than you will be able to get or demand better treatment or even she like some Nigerians have been able to. If you know your right, you will know to use the law in your favor against those oppressing you. 🥱🥱🥱🥱 |

coputa:Replace "cannot" with "should not" and everything is good.
Police officers have authority but that authority has boundaries. When you know those boundaries, you protect yourself because the difference between obedience and oppression is simply knowing your rights.
Have you heard of abuse of authority before? |

The best solution is to careful record erring officer and send it to the force PRO in Abuja. Don't alert him cos he can shoot you. |

| Re: What The Police Are Not Allowed To Do During An Arrest by Angelfrost(m): 1:30pm On Jan 04 |
Hahahahaha...! If these are true, then we don't have a functioning Police Force in Nigeria. ![]() That means we have thugs and hoodlums wearing police uniforms and doing that job for decades in Nigeria. ...Cos ehn, an average Nigerian Policeman doesn't know all these things o. |

Kobojunkie:Lol... When a thug in Police uniform, armed with an intent to kill or maim and high on drugs or alcohol comes for you, better pray he's sane enough to reason with you as you "use the law". When I tell you people that Nigeria is one of the most lawless contraptions on Earth, y'all think I'm being needlessly loud and unpatriotic. |

Story for the gods. Tell Nigeria police this scrap, correct beating will reset your brain 🧠 and you may still not get justice. Just tag the post as what America police cannot do to you. |

My friends and I were once arrested by Police on a relatively lonely road one night. And one of my friends was just trying to form strong and stubborn. I had to tell him to pin down oooo before them go shoot us down come display dead bodies with note that armed robbers gunned down in a gun battle. I was like I beg let us reach station 1st before u buga. I can't come and die for naija police hand oooo |

| Re: What The Police Are Not Allowed To Do During An Arrest by Moveittothem: 1:36pm On Jan 04 |
coputa:It's not because Nigerians don't know their right, it's because the law is compromised, and no longer the last hope of the common man. If you try to resist, and they slap and beat you, what will happen? There was a time I tried to resist, the officer said he would brutalize me and nothing would happen, if you were in my shoes, what would you do? |
