"National Shame" – Peter Obi Reacts To Terrorists’ Attack In Niger by SlavaUkraini(op): 5:48am On Jan 05
Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described as a national shame the terrorists’ attack on Niger community that claimed the lives of 30 people and several others abducted.

In a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, Obi said it is time to end this cycle of violence and insecurity in the country.

According to him, what Nigerians urgently need is an all-hands-on-deck approach; a coordinated, capable, and decisive effort to end the menace of insecurity that has become a daily occurrence.

“It is deeply worrisome and unacceptable that, as we usher in a new year, the cycle of senseless killings and insecurity continues unchecked across our nation.

Today, in Niger State, we once again witnessed the horrific loss of over 40 lives in a brutal terrorist attack at the Kasuwan-Daji Market in the Domo community of Borgu Local Government Area.

“Just yesterday, armed bandits struck Bong village in Doemak District of Plateau State, leaving multiple people dead. Two days ago, several communities in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State were attacked by bandits. On New Year’s Day in Katsina State, the Unguwar Naino community was also attacked, with several lives lost and many others injured.

“These incidents form part of a disturbing and tragic pattern of violence that has sadly become normalized. The repeated failure to provide basic security for citizens is a national shame, and the toll it takes on families and communities is immeasurable.

As a nation, we cannot continue to normalize these killings. The protection of lives must remain the foremost responsibility of government.

“To the families who have lost loved ones in Niger, Plateau, Kano, Katsina, and other affected communities this New Year, no words can truly ease your pain. Know, however, that the nation mourns with you.

May you find strength, comfort, and resilience in this time of unimaginable grief. This cycle of violence must be stopped,” he wrote.

When Lagos citizens decided to vote for you instead of that drug dealer criminal, we all thought they made a mistake but now we know better.

You will still give him a bloody nose again in Lagos because I trust Lagos people.

If you check well tribalism and nepotism might just be one of the biggest problems to this insecurity issue.
Putting the best people not minding where they come from rather than your tribes men in some key positions might have solved more than 70% of the security problems we are facing today .

Quite predictably, he has arrived, right on cue, as if responding to a calendar alert titled Selective Outrage. Disasters have come and gone in the East, reports piling up like unread emails, yet not a single blink of concern. Last week, he graciously visited Enugu, not to engage, not to empathize, but apparently to change outfits and exit stage left.

It seems compassion, in this case, is a strictly external affair, it begins outside his compound and ends wherever the cameras stop rolling. What happens back home? Utterly irrelevant. One can only conclude that his brand of charity is strictly ceremonial, pressed, polished, and completely allergic to responsibility.

Buhari was the worst president in the history of Africa, but without sentiment, buhari was 100 million times better than what we have now as president.

Our so called president tinubu is busy refueling his arteries in France.

He's unaware of the happenings in Nigeria.

Tinubu doesn't care. All he knows is travel, tax and 2027

No Nigerian President since 1999 comes close to Tinubu in wickedness, corruption, lies, greed and deceit.

You have started again this year with cherry picking about events.

Since the military have been pouncing on the criminals for weeks now, have you praised the government for that?

How come you are always blind to the development news. This Peter Obi is just too petty to be ordinary a councillor

The number priority of Government is the security of lives and properties. As long as this isn't achieved by Tinubu Government, indeed, it's a national shame

Why is Peter Obi cherry picking about issues. We have been reading about the military bombing the terrorists, which of them have Peter Obi responded to praise the government?

So he didn't read all those news, but just the recent attacks?

Like the principal, like the supporters

This fabled merit system ish will never work in Nigeria again smiley they will say you want to dominate them 😏

Saying things like "the implementation of 'quota system' both in recruitment, hiring, appointments and even kids school leaving exams is what makes the world go round"

Check all these people supporting APC today, most of them are quota system benefactors in one way or the other cool nothing like MERIT in their dictionary

National shame indeed

but when corpses of youths of Anambra were floating on the river when you were governor, that's a 'stata shame' I guess.

Tinubu need to monitor key members of ADC, on issue of insecurity. They're brutal criminal

If securing lives & props is the strongest kpi of a President, & having empirically observed BAT's performance, what cld possibly be the motivation for anyone to want to vote or support BAT ever again?
