PRESS RELEASE TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI NEUTRALISE TERRORISTS, RESCUE HOSTAGES IN BORNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded another operational success following a well-coordinated offensive against terrorist elements in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, leading to the rescue of kidnapped civilians. In the early hours of 4 January 2026, troops, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged terrorists at a known crossing point along the Sojiri axis. During the encounter, five terrorists were neutralised without any casualty to own troops, underscoring the professionalism, precision, and combat effectiveness of the security forces. Additionally, the troops successfully rescued three civilians who had been abducted by the terrorists. Items recovered during the operation included AK-47 rifles and other sundry materials. The successful operation highlights OPHK’s sustained commitment to aggressive offensive actions against terrorist elements while prioritising the protection of civilians. It also underscores the importance of effective collaboration with local security stakeholders in degrading terrorist capabilities. Troops’ morale remains high, and security forces continue to dominate the operational environment across the Theatre despite the evolving security dynamics. Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mandate to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace and stability in the North East region. https://www.nairaland.com/8592800/venezuelan-communities-worldwide-celebrate-capture It's only people that haven't travelled and met people from all these countries that support brutal dictators where their average citizens are suffering I remember nearly 20 years ago, I saw a bunch of Venezuelans gathered somewhere outside central London (probably near their embassy). I asked them what's the occasion and they said they are speaking up against Hugo Chavez Government. Foolish me said but Chavez is doing well given you have free education, healthcare etc. Omo I nearly chop correct beating that day, it would have been a serious lynching When you see someone supporting all those Russia, North Korea, Venezuela, it's usually because they haven't travelled, and are envious of Westerners doing well and erroneously think someone is responsible for them not doing well. |

I have directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the DSS to hunt down the terrorists behind the Kasuwan Daji attack and ensure they are brought swiftly to justice. These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people. They must face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down. In addition, those who aid, abet, or enable them will also be brought to justice. I have also directed that all abducted victims be urgently rescued and that security operations around vulnerable communities, especially near forests, be intensified. These times demand our humanity. We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them and deny them any sanctuary. We must reclaim peace for these attacked communities. May the souls of the departed rest in peace. ~ Bola Ahmed Tinubu |

Ibime:Venezuela is exactly the size of Nigeria. The way they picked him up like Hushpuppi is still so funny to me. Do they have any military at all? Or was he sold out. I have heard he is very unpopular among Venezuelans Personally I don't see any reason why people are losing sleep over the toppling of a despot. He's not exactly Lumumba |

Trump and Putin are the same person. It is just that one grew up in and rules over an authoritarian regime and one grew up in and rules over a democracy. Na why they understand themselves so well. |

Watch Alex Vzla (a Venezuelan) explain the real reason Venezuela's president Maduro was captured and removed by US government. He says it's not really about oil.
I don't know how true his claims are, but this is very very informative. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 9:14am On Jan 05 |
BlueRayDick:Lots of facts but context and interpretation are key. Venezuela’s economic history mirrored that of Nigeria and Trinidad. Oil boom in 1970s due to the Arab oil embargo followed by economic difficulties in the 80s and 90s when the Arabs came back on the scene with increased oil production and exportation. Chavez also definitely purged and politicised their national oil company which worsened the corruption and exacerbated the already existing financial hardship PRIOR to the US oil embargoes. Much of the government and military are also in the drugs game. The drugs game gives many people easy access to juicy amounts of money that does not have to be accounted for in anyway and that does not need much infrastructure or management acumen. This is because they are just middlemen with production in Colombia and destination in America. This is easier money than the difficult task of trying extract and refine crude whose proceeds go to the government anyway (at least on paper). It is also true that their oil is difficult to extract and requires specialised refineries. His conclusion though is where I am not in tune with him. I still think oil is a major factor. If Venezuela had no oil at all I don’t think Maduro would have been extracted. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 9:26am On Jan 05 |
afrodoc2:Yeah, I also think he didn't end his theory well. It is definitely about how and I think the US' interest in all of this is to have those specialized refineries that refine Venezuela's heavy crude to go back into business and at the same time reduce the influx of drugs into US. More like they want to use one stone to kill multiple birds. They probably believe if the oil is turned back on and Venezuela's new government starts sending their crude to the American refineries , things will go back to normal. That is; the Venezuelan government will be making cool cash from selling their crude to America, the American oil companies that own the refineries will be smilling to the bank and there won't be need for the Venezuelean government to be funneling drugs into the US on a large scale to earn money. |

BlueRayDick:the drug thing is just noise imho the same trump has pardoned a former president actually convicted of drug traffiking https://www.cnbc.com/2026/01/04/trump-venezuela-maduro-pardon-honduras.html The Trump administration is facing renewed questions over its recent pardon of former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez after the U.S. captured Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro on Saturday and charged him with crimes related to drug trafficking.this is also from the article: Maduro was charged with narco-terrorism conspiracy, along with four other charges: cocaine importation conspiracy; possession of machine guns and destructive devices; and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices.Charging a president fro possession of machine guns? more to the point, if the presidency of venezuela is directly involved in trafficking drugs, they would use all organs of the govt to facilitate this - diplomatic bag - presidential jet , the military - not unknown and un escorted fishing boats |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 9:46am On Jan 05 |
GloriousGbola:Well, I guess that's how geopolitics works. They must find something to say when taking a drastic action like this one. I watched a video Rubio talking Venezuela being in the western Hemisphere and that they (America) will not open their eyes while Venezuela gives an opening for China, Russia and their other adversaries to set up camp in their backyard. More like they know the moment Venezuela warms up to those aforementioned superpowers through oil deals, America will be under threat from their presence in Venezuela. So maybe that is also another reason for the whole arrest and capture of Maduro. I don't think the whole thing is as a result of one single reason. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 9:59am On Jan 05 |
BlueRayDick:actually ties into trumps not thinking things through an unpopular president, disaffected citizens - you quietly back a coup. everyone knows whats up but you have deniability this just speaks to a naked return to imperialism and colonialism. we have been complaining about the Chinese and their extraction of rare earth minerals. so if they decide to say fk diplomacy, we will just arrest your president for debts owed to china and take our money in minerals what can nigeria do? |

BlueRayDick:No matter what, the US won't allow a country within it's hemisphere with the largest oil deposit to fall to the hands of it's enemies like Russia, China and Iran. It's beyond the oil but the oil is also a vital part of it all. Infact Chinese officials where on ground the night the Op was carried out just to send a message to China. |
