Nigerian are doing some creative things in the medical field. Last time I saw a facility that has very modern equipment and doing very specialized procedures.
Things are actually changing, especially in the private sector. The only problem is affordability. Majority are not able to access those levels of care.
The government can introduce some kind of national insurance with certain conditions to solve this issue
Nigerians won’t appreciate their healthcare system until they enter UK

Lol... Your fake stats will truly start making sense when Mr. President stops jetting out to France under one silly guise or the other.

Up till now, Doctors are still striking, and over 70% of Nigerian citizens lack access to decent basic healthcare.

See ehn... This is a new year abeg... It's too early for these Obalende stats. undecided

I am a bit disappointed in most of the comments.

What if the medical tourism itself was a false flag and people used it to collect dollars from CBN to round trip through Bureau de Change?

What if those people had skewed the data we saw for years?

I'm just being a contrarian here.

Anyone who believes this must believe that his/her mom is still a virgin. How did it drop by that much in a year? Where did people get the treatment in Nigeria?

It will be best they let us know we do not have data than just churn out such lies.
This your write up...shows you are a stack illiterate....ask Google...it will help you get answers to your questions and your level of ignorance 😭

I didnt even read the rubbish- the headline alone was enough to tell me its all CRAP. Many people cannot no longer afford medical care abroad. SIMPLE!

Okay in as much as some of you people don't like good news... Babcock teaching hospital, have been doing heart surgery, kidney replacement which are among some of what gulp the money for medical tourism, there is a Big Hospital in Lekki also that is top
What do you mean some don't like good things? Did you read the article? You can't conclude medical tourism dropped by over 90% in a year without either a drastic investment in Healthcare or a policy restricting people from traveling abroad for treatment.

This is a big lie. Your politicians are still traveling and dying abroad.
But if it’s bad news you’re excited…..

You could have disputed the statistics with the facts you have at hand without calling it fake.
The information CBN gave us strictly for the medical tourism they funded via banks. Since BAT's FX unionization proclamation, CBN has been giving less and less FX to banks, meaning that customers have had to source their FX from the black market and the price also increased exponentially.
It is possible that our medical hospitals are getting better but that's not the main reason the medical tourism has witnessed such a steep decline.

if the percentage says other wise you people will still talk... Common drop from CBN is what you people are calling false.. The same way petrol price jump from 200 to 1000 plus... Now they say this one drop una they find evidence... I just mention one for you now and another is that many people capitalize on Round tripping on Forex supply from CBN but all those are not more now Bank sell 1 usd for 1450 while black market sell for 1453 the margin is not that much but before... Many people will conive with hospital and submit form for Usd for treatment because CBN subsidise it to 380 per 1 usd but come back with the same money and sell it at 1500.... Let appreciate once we hear good news no be every time we go dey do like person wey get running stomach

You don't have to start creating scenarios that may not be true. That said, no one will doubt a reasonable statistic. As someone who works with and make decisions based on statistics, you do not expect me not to call out such outrageous claims particularly, if there is no evidenced logic to back it up.
