I tell people that politics is local. Unless Tinubu decides to do massive rigging, nothing would save him that day. You can only rig swing states where there is no strong force against you. Having a governor does not literally translate to winning that state. Obi had no councilor but won 11 states. Wike had his way because people like Amaechi didn't show interest and Obi didn't prepare for such. Forget the super man they make Tinubu look like. It's always a different game on election day. Even as Hope is in APC, if Tinubu sees 25% in Imo state I will say he tried. People will approach this election differently. If the opposition stays together, you can't have massive rigging. Obi has some fanatical supporters and I don't see him losing more than 5% of his old supporters. With coalition, he will win more states and or his votes will be protected. |

Tbagwell80:How did Atiku won Osun if not for Adeleke? How did Tinubu won Benue if not for Father Alia? How did Atiku won Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom if not for the governors? How did Tinubu won all the states he won in the North if not for the governors? Stop using SE to judge, Obi is the closest thing they have to presidency with momentum so they would naturally vote him. Also, SE governors don’t actually work for Tinubu in 2023, how do you explain them winning their own elections massively and Tinubu losing with over 99%. No sane person on earth can say Governors don’t matter especially when the governor is a grassroots person and truly supported you with all his arsenal. Sanwoolu slack in Lagos in 2023 and was caught unaware. That’s why he fixed it during the governorship and APC won over 65% of the votes. Let 20 governors leave APC today and see how Tinubu will lose massively ate the polls. |

Ask anyone residing in Plateau, Muftwang has put himself into a tight spot defecting to APC. Just like Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, it would be a miracle for him to return let alone deliver the state to Tinubu. The move is very unpopular amongst his erstwhile supporters and even the APC people are aggrieved as he has displaced other politicians and scuttled ambitions. It's all moody and gloomy on the Plateau. Without the backing of the likes of Jonah Jang that brought him into power, work done is equal to zero. |

Even with Mutfwang’s resignation, PDP supporters should stay calm — Jang insists the party is still stable and focused on 2027. Let’s see how it plays out on the ground. |

'God will turn the craftiness of the wicked into foolishness'!Bible. What is happening presently in Nigeria reminds me of the story of the rich fool in the bible...by the time they think they have acquired all they needed to succeed,he steps in. We are students of history, time shall tell. |

Coalitions, alliances, cross carpetings, defections for 2027 looks literally like the votes of the electorates doesn't count. Whether elected officials move to other parties or not the votes of the masses will still count irrespective of where they belong. |

LegendHero:Okowa was Governor of Delta State and the PDP VP candidate, but could not deliver the state for Atiku and you say governors are that important ? Dey Play... Lalong was APC campaign DG and Governor of Plateau State but could not deliver his state for Jagaban... Dey Play EL Rufia was a die hard Jagabandit and Governor of Kaduna State. He fought for him to emerge as the APC presidential candidate but could not deliver his state on election Day Dey Play Nobody is more Jagabandit than Ganduje but he could not deliver Kano State for Jagaban on election day and you say governors are that important ? Dey Play Katsina, Kebbi, Yobe, Gombe, Nassarawa, , Cross River, Ebonyi, Imo, all had governors that were Jagabandits but could not deliver their state for Jagaban and you still believe governors are that important on election day ? Continue to Dey Play Godwin Obaseki was Governor of Edo State and a close friend of Okowa then governor of Delta State but could not deliver Edo State for the PDP on election Day and you say governors are relevant on election day ? Na rough play you dey play so and your eyes go clear on election Day. The only VIP on election day are the people, if they don't like you, you will lose woefully |

The problem is tinubu doesn't win in a free and fair election. There has to be violence, ballot box snatching, rigging, intimidation. In countries like US,UK,Germany tinubu cannot even win a councillor seat |

Deepspirituals:The problem is that no sane man will remain in PDP if they have political ambition in 2027. I am a fan of PDP, but it will be political suicide to remain in PDP. In Plateau state, All PDP elected persons have been sacked by the court except the governor who narrowly escaped. That's because of the unrecognised convention held in the state. At the national level, PDP is facing the same challenge. Which faction of the PDP will later be confirmed as the legitimate PDP due to the convention? So if your faction of the PDP is later not recognized by the court, it means everyone who was elected on that platform will be sacked. All thr factions are claiming legitimate, no one knows what will happen in course. So it won't be a nice move to remain in a party where u are not sure of what the outcome will be. |

LegendHero:Dumb and baseless analysis. So you’re saying Peter Obi won Lagos (APC), Nasarawa (APC), Imo (APC), Plateau (PDP), Enugu (PDP), Delta (PDP), Ebonyi (PDP), Anambra (APGA), Abia (PDP), Edo (PDP), Cross River (PDP), and the FCT because he supposedly has all these governors in his pocket? Please be serious. Political analysis is clearly not your forte, oga. Go and try something else. |

justjify:Politics is not a one directional game. Peter Obi won those area only because SE is his region and tribalism played a huge role and then the middle belt because they are Christians with animosity for Muslim judging from what they perceived Buhari and Fulanis are doing to them. No sensible politician on earth can say governors don’t matter. If you have a governor supporting you in a state and you only have 4% of the votes then that mean governor betrayed you and only lied to you. Peter Obi won Lagos with less than 30k votes in over 1m+ vote bank. He won Ebonyi with close to 85%+ votes. How can you say Ebonyi governor mobilized for Tinubu? Are you saying Ebonyi governor can’t mobilize 25% for him if he truly wants to do that? Why do you think Tinubu got over 500k votes in Kano? That’s because of Ganduje influence. No way Tinubu will get such vote in Kano without the governor influence which explained why Atiku lost Kano so badly that he struggled to get 100k. |
| Re: 'No Shaking": Ex Gov Jonah Jang On Mutfwang’s Resignation From PDP by Tbagwell80: 3:34pm On Jan 05 |
LegendHero:I never said they don't matter. I said it does not literally translate to winning that state. If it works that way, that means Tinubu has won 30 states? If it works that way, GEJ wouldn't have lost. Politics is local and I said if he doesn't get to massive rigging like what happened in rivers state. State election is different from presidential election. Sanwo had to do one of the most shameful thing in modern democracy to win even though Rhodes wasn't a match to him. I particularly mentioned massive rigging and full support and collaboration of the coalition. Some popular governors will win for him. He won Benue even when Ortom was against him and in opposition. This confirms my statement. He rode on the popularity of Alia who wasn't a governor then. In Osun, Tinubu wasn't popular, Obi wasn't popular and Atiku rode on the wings of the popular Adeleke. If you remove massive rigging (I don't regard vote buying as one) and conduct election 10x in Rivers state, Obi will win. Same with Edo and Delta. Even if Abba joins APC today and Kwankwaso is in opposition, Tinubu can't win the state. The governor will get him some votes but won't win it for him. So the major factor is popularity of the governor and how strong opposition is in the state. |
