DeOTR:So, what do you gain by paying 15% tax in Nigeria? Do you have uninterrupted power supply? Clean drinking water? Good roads with proper safety measures? Clean environment? Good paying job? These are just the basics. |

Ahhh this one is honestly painful to read 😔 How do you deduct tax from ₦25,000? In this economy? After bank charges, transfer fees, and everything else? That money can barely buy foodstuff for a few days. Government keeps talking about widening the tax net, but it’s always the poor and struggling middle class that feel it the most. Meanwhile, big men and politicians are owing billions and nothing happens to them. Imagine being a mother of two, already managing survival, then you see deductions on small money like this. No empathy at all. If care is not taken, people will completely lose trust in the system. Nigeria is not for the weak at all. 💔 |

87 naira tax is what this fellow is ranting about? A lot of people are not well in this country, it's high time we began to take mental health seriously. |

DeOTR:We pay health insurance here but do we get to experience the kind of care and facilities you get in Western countries? When I say top tier, I mean we'll equipped hospitals that can handle complex cases. Shamefully, even our politicians run to those hospitals for ordinary routine checkups... All the oil, education, and electricity subsidies that has been removed, with the numerous bank charges, is it not enough to provide the whole nation with just pipeborne water? I will happily pay 50% tax in the UK where I know it'll be made use of than 5% in Nigeria where i know where it'll go. |

This tax issue is an abnormality in itself. It should be suspended immediately. Rather the government should tax the rich to take care of the poor. |

helinues:Smiles, I'm not the person you quoted, but i will try to educate you since you are not in abroad. There is an inward/internal transfer, that's from your account to another account of the same country and you are hardly charged, even if you will be charged, it's 0.50 or so(not upto #1). And there are some apps which you can personally use to send money from your abroad account to your local/country's account without the abroad/country deducting a certain amount in the name of tax. He is trying to enlighten you that the criminal taxing activities that's happening in Nigeria now is not even happening in abroad(developed country) and you are here saying what you don't know. ![]() |

DMCA:True, but even with Opay, she'll still be charged N60 in total. Though to me, it's not much even if it's N100. But then again, you know that the receiver will also be charged N50 for the same transfer. So, even with Opay, when you send 25k, the recipient gets 24,890. N110 gone 😃😂 My problem is not even that, my problem is what are they using the money to do? The N50 stamp duty of receiving N10k and above, what have they done with the trillions it has generated? |

MEGAWATCH:So let me get this straight, when Pitobi wins in Lagos, it’s suddenly the sacred “will of the Lagos people,” but when he loses elsewhere, the anthem changes to rigging, rigging, rigging. For heaven’s sake, which kind people be dis? Was it not the very same election that was supposedly “rigged” from top to bottom? How does it magically transform into the people’s choice the moment the result is favourable? I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, screaming “rigging” across social media rooftops will not launder a neatly packaged fraud into a stolen mandate. If he cannot master the rough-and-tumble of real politics, perhaps he should refocus on his beloved container economy. He is neither the first to contest nor the first to lose an election, and no amount of online theatrics will result in the presidency being handed to him on a silver platter. They can scream “rigging” till their voices crack, reality, unfortunately for them, does not run on hashtags. |

workchopNG:You are talking of another Man's country who when push comes to shove doesn't see you as a Citizen of his country and whose indigenous citizens would vote to deport every Foreigner (regardless of if they have achieved citizenship or not) at the drop of a hat. Everyone knows that Nigeria still has a long way to go to provide for its citizens and the governments should rightly be criticised...but its not a "Flex" to paint another country as some success story when; 1. These things were done over a period of time before the mass immigration of foreigners to their countries to enjoy these benefits (mind you the indigenous people hate the fact that you are there having access to these things regardless of if you work and are also paying tax into their system, they still feel you are not even meant to be there and are taking their jobs). 2. Not every Foreigner is finding it easy in these countries with some still reliant on people back home to help them or sell properties and all to supplement (so its not always a nosey picture for those living abroad). 3. The fact that those countries plundered countries like ours (and still do) to get their economies where they are (No Industrial Revolution in Europe or anywhere in the west if not for the gains of Colonialism, Slave Trade and so on). So once again, while its right to point out the flaws in our systems and bad governance, let's not act as if everything is honky dory outside our shores....because they still protest in those countries as well (funny enough on Immigration and the need to close borders being the number one issue for most). |

So you don't know the difference between bank charges and tax? 50naira stamp duty on daily inflow has been in existence for almost 10yrs. Whether you use ussd or bank app or any mean to transfer money, there is always bank charges plus VAT on the charges, and this is the normal practice in the banking sector for years. |

This is madness. Why not keep your cash in your house and do cash transactions to avoid paying 87 naira on 25k transaction. Ewu |
