2027: I Will Step Down For No One - Atiku by ryloy(op): 8:48pm On Jan 06
BREAKING: 2027: I will step down for no one, Atiku vows

...accuses Presidency, APC of meddling in choice of ADC candidate

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has vowed not to withdraw from the 2027 Presidential race.

The former presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party made the declaration in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by his media aide, Paul Ibe.

In the statement entitled, “Nigeria’s Democracy Under Siege: Opposition Faces Existential Threat, ” Atiku accused the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress of meddling in the choice of the ADC presidential candidate.

Checks revealed that apart from Atiku Abubakar, former Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and former presidential aspirant on the platform of the APC, Rotimi Amaechi, have also declared interest in the ADC ticket.

Atiku who accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of alleged plot to foist a one party state on Nigeria, further alleged that “agents aligned with the Presidency are now attempting to destabilize the ADC from the outside—issuing reckless prescriptions about its internal affairs, particularly the choice of a presidential candidate.”

The former Vice president however noted that all contenders for the ADC ticket would submit themselves to a presidential convention, having been assured by the party national leadership of “its commitment to an open, transparent, and competitive process for selecting its flagbearer.”

The statement maintained that “any call—overt or covert—for Atiku to “step aside” is a gift to authoritarian ambition and a betrayal of the Nigerian people.”

It read:”For nearly three years, Nigerians have endured one of the harshest periods in recent history—an era defined by punishing economic policies and shrinking democratic space under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“True to form, this administration has not only inflicted widespread hardship but has pursued a calculated effort to eliminate political alternatives. The objective is clear: a creeping, de facto one-party state.

“Perhaps the Tinubu administration’s most disturbing “achievement” has been the systematic weakening of opposition parties, leaving the All Progressives Congress—despite its manifest failures—standing alone by default, not by merit.

“Thankfully, patriotic leaders saw this danger early and chose resistance over silence by rallying around the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the nucleus of a credible national alternative.

“Predictably, agents aligned with the Presidency are now attempting to destabilize the ADC from the outside—issuing reckless prescriptions about its internal affairs, particularly the choice of a presidential candidate.

“Let it be stated plainly: the ADC is on a national rescue mission. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, alongside other committed patriots, is central to this effort. Any call—overt or covert—for Atiku to “step aside” is a gift to authoritarian ambition and a betrayal of the Nigerian people.

“The ADC has consistently affirmed its commitment to an open, transparent, and competitive process for selecting its flagbearer. APC proxies and external meddlers have no standing to intimidate, blackmail, or sabotage this democratic resolve.

“At present, the ADC is focused on building strong ward, local government, and state structures nationwide. Disruptors and infiltrators must allow the party to do this essential work without interference.

“The party remains open and welcoming to all genuine opposition figures. This inclusiveness—not coercion—is the soul of democracy.

“When the time comes, all qualified aspirants will present themselves freely. No one is stepping down. If anyone should step aside, it is President Tinubu—whose leadership has become a national liability.

“The recent public declaration of ADC membership by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in Enugu, the political heartbeat of the Southeast, triggered open boasts by a serving minister and presidential aides about plans to undermine the party. Their fear is evident.

“Let there be no ambiguity: the ADC is determined to end the misfortune imposed by the Tinubu-led APC. No amount of intimidation, intrigue, or sabotage will derail this rescue mission.

“Nigeria will not surrender its democracy without a fight.”

Atiku is the most qualified to pick the ticket...

It would be absurd if he steps down for any of the candidates vieing for the ticket.

Obi just came in and shouldn't expect an automatic ticket. He should go to the back of the queue and wait.

He is the least qualified and Should be ready to learn the ropes!

Peter Obi’s delusional supporters will come here to blame Atiku’s decision on Tinubu grin grin grin

Dele Momodu earlier today tactically called for the expulsion of Peter Obi from ADC. Instead of Obidients to read between the lines, they started attacking Tinubu. Now, Atiku has followed it up with a clear and categorical statement that he’s not stepping down for anybody. The days of pretending is over. They are clearly telling Peter Obi, stay with us and get VP or get the fvck out of our party.

At least, all those coming up with funny ADC combinations like “Obi/Tambuwal”, Obi/El-Rufai, “Obi/Kwakwanso” etc can now rest. Atiku owns ADC and he’s going to be the party candidate.

Obi and Atiku created the coalition when others weren't interested. No one can force Atiku to step down or force Obi to accept VP or force Kwankwaso ad VP. All the divisive reportage are the handiwork of APC agents and dead on arrival

You are so desperately praying for obi to leave adc because he has made rigging for 2027 so impossible.
Apc presently has no presidential candidate as trump will soon pick up SW president.

Lol. How some people shamelessly revel in dishonest revision of recent history as recent as less than a year old, needs to be studied as a Uni course.

Obi that hedged his bet cowardly, insisting he was still in Labour, while Atiku, Tambuwal and others did all the groundwork to birth ADC is who the usual suspects now want to crown as a founding father of ADC. These people funny die walahi.

The day this man enters power is when I will japa and completely abandon my country of origin. We’ve already failed by putting Buhari in power for eight years. At least Tinubu was part of civilian rule. Atiku who tasted power for eight years with nothing to show but unending greed should exit politics with grace. If he should rule, let his skeleton be elected. So far he breathes air, he should forget about smelling power.

5 percenters.

Your votes are not relevant. You did not vote for Buhari twice and Tinubu once. Your votes would also not make any difference in 2027.

Fear not...he will never rule Nigeria! Tinubu will rather tear the nation apart than have the North return to power in 2027. Quote me daily!

Lol. Trump is your new God and not Kanu since he will now be eating watery Beans for a long time abi?

You think Trump and the US economic and intelligence network cannot work out who is best to lead Nigeria out of the trio of Tinubu, Atiku and Obi? You people don't know how America's foreign policy works.

Trump and the USA hate socialist and welfarist-leaning Government which is what Nigeria had been before Tinubu.

Trump wants a Nigeria where Nigerians are empowered to be richer so they stop migrating to the USA and it is Tinubu's brave reforms, though unavoidably punitive in the short term, that can deliver that. Not subsidies and Government sponsorship of processes the private sector should have taken over decades before PBAT.

If Trump has his say, he will not support any Northerner for that reason because the North, leaders and followers, has shown over decades it loves welfarist, subsidy-riddled and non-competitive economies that produces human beings with poor development indexes and thus poor assets in terms of nation-building.

History shows the free market economy the USA and Tinubu love, and is working ro put in place, is always inhibited by Northern Presidents and heads of State in preference for using Government patronage to sustain many.

America loves national wealth creations and capitalist prosperity underpinned by societies creating solutions for itself with innovative and problem-solving human resources.

Same as Tinubu and in contrast to North and their hand-out mentality. There is of course also the issue of how USA knows many Northern leaders are tacit sponsors or supporters of terror. A distinct disincentive to the USA supporting any Northerner gain power in 2027 if she can keep in power a Southern who shares same economic development ideologies with America.

The USA will realise it only need to help Nigeria tackle insecurity and then utilise Tinubu's economic vision and political will to help Nigeria optimally.

By the same token, and given their competent intel, Americans will know Obi is traditionally a weakling and divisive leader, who has never developed a formidable politicak support base, and thus likely to be a stooge of the North.

They know, given his history and nature as a weak politician his peers look down on and have scant regards for, Obi will be shackled by the North throughout his reign unable to take brave and reformational decisions, capable of moving Nigeria forward, as Tinubu has done.

Whether you believe it or not, it is only in Nigeria, courtesy of individuals like you with hidden agenda, the noise of "Tinubu has failed" is loudest.

Globally, economists and policy makers love Tinubu and praise his innovative reforms they believe will set Nigeria permanently on the path of sustainable growth and development.

Truth is that you and your co-travellers simply run on emotion always and this is why you can never think clearly or work with facts. You will see who USA will lean toward once elections are close. Again, you will learn that emotions prevent you seeing what rational folks can see easily time and time again.

Why are you hyperventilating all over the place? Obi himself clarified on his twitter space that no one will be stepping down for anyone and they will all support whoever emerges. I know Tinubu and the APC were blindsided by Obi's decision to join the ADC. You all were counting on opposition votes being splitted but ended up uniting all opposition. Tinubu should not have destroyed the PDP and the Labour party. He played himself.

Only a gullible and dellusional persion would pick Peter Obi over Atiku in this race, though the both of them are the same, Atiku is a power monger while Peter Obi is a pretenders and deceivers of all time but Atiku still control the masses and understand Nigerian home and abroad with experience more than Yes daddy.

Obi is always a boy, he doesnt know when to move, he supposed to remained in LP bcs he has more grand and influence there, but he was carried away by social media hype forgetting that this is not a Wizkid and Davido hype.
