The Nigerian Army has opened its portal for applications for the Direct Short Service Commission Course 29/2026.

Eligible Nigerians are invited to apply for commission as officers.

The DSSC is also open to both civilians and serving military personnel who possess relevant professional qualifications.

Successful applicants will be commissioned into specialised corps of the Nigerian Army, where their expertise will support national defense and security operations.

1-The Nigerian Army Engineers

2-Nigerian Army Signals

3-Nigerian Army Medical Corps

4-Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

5-The Nigerian Army Education Corps.


Application

Applications are free of charge and must be completed online.

The application portal will be open from January 7 to February 4 2026.

Interested candidates are advised to apply early and ensure that all required information is correctly submitted.

They are looking for specialists..ie engineers, doctors, etc. If it was cannon fodder, that's the ones they recurit at the various Depot NA, and the trainees at the NDA and the Nigerian Army school of infantry.

Specialists may see the frontline, but they are most likely to be 'at the rear'...

I remember that NNPC employment of some years ago...where 45000 applicants applied for 6000 jobs. Of course, most will miss out, and dem go say 'na exclusive;

The problem is, Nigeria runs an oil dependent economy, not an economy that produces industrial goods for the world. If we did that, we would have been having so many jobs, they would be recuriting you in your 300 level at university.

But because we run an oyel economy,everything is oil, oil oil. As a result, na few industries we get, and it is government jobs, that can only be given to a minority, even if na merit dem do exclusively, that we all compete for.

THat is why we have never had good leaders in nigeria, and we would never have good leaders even if we split the country. The mindset of nigerians towards their economy is extractive economy is good. When it isn't....it is a nice way to accumulate debts upon debts and destroy productive capacity , jobs included, and promote corruption (which is why we even have issues with security).

This is the best time to join as a southerner. Trump and Netanyahu are pressing their (Islamic terrorists) necks.
