Life truely is turn by turn.
Since September 2025 we dey enjoy a minimum of 15 hours of electricity supply on average daily here in Aba,Abia State.
Uratta feeder st Philip relief II Band B , prepaid meter freely distributed by Aba power but installed with an average arrears of N140000.
We are enjoying the electricity but we are paying for it painfully.

Apart from occasional times when the national grid has issues, most Nigerian households enjoy a minimum of 15-20 hours of electricity in urban areas. So, which blackouts are they talking about?

lol...It sounds like a lot of money

But

1.We need ten trillion yearly for the next ten years, at least, before we see power improve to 24 hours a day power
2.That's the money from those who actually pay, not those who bypass their meters, and steal power.
3.The majority of those who actually do pay...either underpay, or pay subsidised rate, with a minority paying band A or cost reflective rates.

One trillion eh? A gas powered station generating 5000 MW will cost 10 trillion naira.

Newspapers and media should put things in context. Just because na trillion does not mean it is enough. cheesy
Yet you remained silent while politicians loot over 50 trn annually to fund their luxury lifestyles, buy houses for their children abroad and stash billions of dollars in foreign banks for their unborn generations.

Any quote for that fifty trillion naira, old man?

Plus can you tell me when I kept quiet about corruption and stealing, old man

Plus, our budget exceeded 50 trillion only this year. It's near nigh impossible therefore for politicans to have been stealing fifty trillion naira annually even over the last 20 years. Salaries and wages won't have been paid at all, and there would have been no new road projects and debt would be above 400 trillion naira by now. And the country would have been in ruins , worse than somalia and Afghanistan combined. Politicans steal, but not that much.

Infact our budget last year was 30 trillion naira..how can a politician steal 50 trillion of that? Is it imaginary money or what?

When you disagree....

I challenge Electricity of Nigeria (Distribution Companies), if they can provide Nigerians past 6 months reports, where they meet 10 hours daily constant light or 300 hours monthly supply of power to each State or Transformers. I will be their advocate for life.
This is one of the most terrible sector swallowing money like the snake that swallowed money during Buhari Administration.

Judgement is waiting for all those people working that sector.

Your own issue is ignorance.

You're confusing electricity generated from public supply with total electricity generated in a country. Go and study first so that you will understand how ignorant you sound when comparing SA's total electricity to fraction of total electricity generated in Nigeria represented by public supply.
Thank you jarey for sharing your own intelligence with us instead of his ignorance.

At least you are not confusing penkelemess 150 million adequate electicity Nigerians with Fashola's bragging 11 years ago!!!

Fashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'

Jul 11, 2014.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.

According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.

"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.

pendy79:
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Sunday evening boasted that he could provide uninterrupted power supply to Lagos residents between six and eight months.

Fashola spoke at the commissioning of 8.5 megawatts Lekki Independent Power Project (IPP), the fifth of such power projects in the last five years in the state.

The governor said the addition of the Lekki IPP was a testament to the fact that stable power does not require rocket science to achieve in the country.

While challenging power distribution companies in the state, Fashola said, “Let the Eko DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government, in about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State,” Fashola said.

He added, “So, let no one say that he has no money to deliver power for the entire country. This is the limit to which the law allows us to do, but we have done this to make a statement that power can be generated. So, when they come with lies that power is impossible, you can tell them that we have power here; we make it possible”.

The project, courtesy of the state government, in partnership with Heritage Bank, is to serve Lagos State Water Corporations in Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Victoria Island and Ikoyi, as well as over 25km of public lightening in the Lekki axis.

Well, that's what I was saying , old man.

10 trillion yearly for ten years will get us up to 32000mw...which is what we need for eveyrone on the grid.

Also, the Saffers and the descendants of the Pharoahs are paying cost reflective tarrifs, thats why they have power supply well well.

And it is not my rhetoric...it's what the experts have said.

Which is where the ten trillion naira yearly will come in, oga.

Like now, it costs ten trillion to build a 5000mw gas powered station. Ten trillion naira, not dollars US or hong kong, or aussie. or pounds sterling or australian

OKay let's see

1.Pwc says so.
2.Even the figures from the actual agency say so...most nigerians bypass their meters
3.The band B-E people are paying subsidised power, which is basically underpayment by a polite name
4.Power theft is common

Don;t deny it.

Including the 60% who bypass their meters?

Well, if you are not on band A, you are paying subsidsed electricity

If there was no subsidy, your power bill would be charged at N230 or more per kwh. That is not the truth.

If you call me a liar, I will be amused with you.. cheesy
The points you have highlighted above are valid and I must confess that while they epitomise realism, this discourse, if taken to greater lengths would have been more interesting verbally, because it is quite broad and the crux of all issues regarding the power sector in Nigeria goes beyond the capacity of the Federal Government, and overshadowed by corruption and lack of foresight.

Unfortunately, work won't permit me to reply you appropriately at the moment, as my response could end up being an epistle. But, in due course, I will.

UAE never took a loan from Nigeria

Also, UAE is a country of 15 million people living on revenue from nearly 3million barrels per day. Nigeria produces half of that, and the revenue is for....something like 230 million people

If we want to be like the UAE, oil production would have to be at 60 million bpd, and oil prices won't have to change at all (because if our oil production went up that high, oil prices will crash).

electricity.

Come to my area in Lagos and see what Nigerians are going through..

An area that could boost of up to 20 hours power supply daily presently is not sure of seeing 10 hours of power supply monthly..

Funny thing is this mess started when Adelabu became the minister.

Electricity supply has remarkably improved so much that it's now 24 hour constant for weeks!

If you were running a business where only 20% of people pay the price you set that would enable you remain solvent, and the rest underpay or do not pay at all, and government subsidy payments are not coming in for those on subsidised prices, you go call that profitable?

You don't know the seriousness of the problem. 1.2 trillion is not going to fix power. Especially since most of that income is going for salaries and debts, very limited amount for actual fixing of power.

10-15 trillion or more is what this country power sector needs on a yearly basis. Before it makes sense.

You're in band B and you're still struggling to comprehend or admit the truth and you think what you are doing is normal? Just because you hate the President you are lying or being mischievous?

If you want 20hrs plus light, move to Band A area and stop sounding ignorant.

My point is clear that if you are in Band B, C, D, E, you have less hours of light and in turn pay less! Which part of thus reality is too complex for you to comprehend and admit?

I also stated the fact that some people in Band B,C,D,E don't even want Band A because they can't afford it. They want to stay on a band below Band A that they can afford. It is their right too because they don’t want to be in debt.

Also, I stated clearly that consumers on Band A have been enjoying almost 24 hrs uninterrupted electricity supply even since Buhari era and you are still in denial of this fact.

Again I repeat, you will not die if you say the truth nah.

Instead of running down government and sounding abnormal, just move to Band A area to enjoy long hours of electricity supply at premium price. Government has privatized electricity and subsidy on electricity is being gradually phased out.

As I type here, even for Band A users, it is still far cheaper to use public electricity supply than running diesel or petrol generators daily!

It is not good to be poor and still not be truthful nah. Haba

If most people Re underpaying, it would be difficult for the power sector to meet your needs

Also, it's kind of unrealistic to expect 5000 mw to meet even 12 hours of power supply for everyone if we were realistic

Many thanks for your reply confirming that the private geometric power plant is the source of electricity for Aba. This is just another example of how PDP’s privatisation and deregulation gave us 16 years of prosperity before propaganda liars of APC scammed us with their change agenda, which is nothing but extreme poverty shege.

Apart from the petrol cost, there is also the maintenance cost of the generator and the general wear and tear over time.

If you want power free of charge, get your senator to pass the law. Don't use other people's stealing to excuse stealing of power. Yes, we must recover loot, but it takes time, and meanwhile, power sector needs money NOW.
