The man telling you the story says nothing of judges, courts, or lawyers. It is as simple as that. For all you and I know, the man may have broken out of jail and has this story to cover his truth. Nothing in the story says anyone made attempts to verify his tale.

I don't believe that. Besides he was acquitted by a judge not his village chief and a prisoner that broke out will still in hiding.

There are consequences.It is for the man to now press charges on the woman for wrongful accusation and sue her for lost income ..tarnished reputation etc. The problem is most such victims just move on with their lives...and the accusers continue to do same with no consequences.

That he was cleared of rape doesn't make him innocent. Perhaps, the family of the girl were no longer interested in pursuing the case due to financial constraints.

The only way to ascertain the truth is to track the supposed victim down, and have a long conversation with her.

He would have earned Millions of naira by now if this happen in a country that steal oil but unfortunately it happen in a country of "particular concern"

On a serious note, this man need to be compensated by the state govt and also by the Federal govt. No be beans to spend years in prison in Nigeria. Days in police cell in Naija self na something else.

He needs to sue the state that incarcerated him but unfortunately legal knowledge in Nigeria is very poor.

Not every criminal in a Nigerian police cell gets arraigned in court. Some people have spent over 5 years in cell without a court hearing. The system is very corrupt.

Once it's a one sided story, just know it's not always true, it's always sometimes a manipulative narratives to suit either the publisher or the accuser of the accussed.
