By seizing the Russian flagged ship on international waters, the US has given the Russians and others the excuse to write their own Maritime rules and do exactly the same to enemies ships on international waters.

In fact, this precedent will come home to haunt the US sooner than later. The Russians have already started doing this quietly in the Black Sea via its control of the Odessa Corridor.

Trump is a danger to international order because of his emotional responsiveness. If Putin and Xi were like that, this world would have gone up in flames. There are ways you deal with such people without hurting everyone else.

About 23 senators from his own party are already demanding his resignation. He currently has the worst cabinet of any presidency in American history. His emotions will eventually kill his political reign.
