The fact that Osimhen was born in the ghetto and was able to make it out of that environment dislays the triumph of human willpower.
Osimhen's humble beginnings should be celebrated rather than mocked.
I have seen numerous interactions of Osimhen with ordinary folks/fans both at home and abroad and i have hardly seen him showcase any form of arrogance.
I understand the purpose of these attacks on his personality though, any type of success brings 50 friends and 500 enemies.

Yes Osimhen could have been less harsh on Lookman.

But I didn't mind what he said about Finidi, who was woeful as a coach
Even me. I don't mind what he said about Ikpeba and Finidi. If a team loses a world cup spot, don't single out a person for blame, especially the one who was striving harder or hardest to make the qualification possible.

But for this issue on ground, Osimhen bleeped up. He should work on his emotions and responses to things. That was what denied Vinicius of the Balon Dor.

Now everyone wants to blame Osimhen for Nigeria missing out on the World cup.

This is just a desperate journalist trying to remain relevant

So if me and my guy get small confrontation for field that means I'm EVIL??

Guys that will quarrel and reunite within 10 mins. That is how guys are.

Did Oshimen beat or slap anybody?
Just normal guy to guy confrontation

I remember fighting with my flatmate and that same evening we go out to drink and chill.

Football is testosterone and adrenaline so clashes are inevitable.
As Men. We understand this fully

It is the sissy and gossiping men that are still talking about this Oshimen matter.

Real men understand what went down
And it's just normal guy to guy antics.

Sissy boys and effeminate men will spin this story out of proportion just to trend.
my brother I understand your point

No one is actually sising here, lookman no even do the osimhen anything, so it's not like a beef or Dem get issue situation

Nobody get issue with am, the fact that a man go do him best give you two assist then you are treating him in public like he is your houseboy

Nobody owe am anything o, it's very irritating even before the match, always raising hands and hyper active like na him the players con play for

osimhen is from Edo like me, same tribe sef, I have watched him since under age tournament and even pray he eclipse yekini

I am proud of him but not his attitude, even everyone around him tries to manage that terrible aspect of him

Ndidi would always be trailing him both in international and local competition to save him from his own demons where possible

The same thing with the findi George wahala, he was ranting online, but his own guys where trying to tame his own image and take him off live stream

They are all managing his foolishness, it's from that fallout he started doing eating Amala video, and getting down with skit makers to restore public image

His problem is that he believes his arrogance is a positive thing, I can understand confidence but this isn't.

He shows no respect to his own teammates whether they work their but.t off for him, he thinks they owe him

They talk like their women. Mamn go open mouth waaaaaaaa like a bleating goat. Just look at this ròbishi epistle..

What exactly is the gain of this demeaning write up on the eve of a very important match for the national team in which the Osihmen is expected to get us the win!?

They lack tact. Don't be surprised if they have started reading ethnic meaning into the mild altercation. It is always "we against them" mentality for those people..

It is not. However, this is bad for the team psychology and the writer is not different from Osimhen. Perhaps, he's worse and horrible on the emotional intelligence scale.

Whoever pushed it to frontpage too wanted such caustic content to destroy the team's performance. When we lose , wetin dem gain?

Osimhen doesn't deserve this kind of wash down especially from someone whose only source of livelihood is arm chair criticism.

Re: Osimhen: The Arrogance Of A Ghetto Hero By Tunde Odesola by RaySimran:
Irrespective of Osimen shenanigans, this write up is unnecessary. The punch giving a nod to this article justify how useless Lagos-Ibadan Newspapers has always been.

Publishing a hit piece on an individual who wanted a better outcome for his team isn't just stupid it's ridiculous.

Osimen has flown the flag of this great country to a height even the tenth generation of this useless writer wouldn't clinch an inch.

ElevationD:
Fantastic write up.

Pride goes before a fall, as they say. One European footballer once said that little money in the hands of African footballers made them go crazy.

Osimhen gets more notorious everyday, not out of anything, but arrogance of the wealth. Afterall, his own sister once drew the same conclusion publicly about him.

He definitely needs a change of character. His arrogance on the pitch will keep costing him from playing and winning medals with bigger European teams.

Chairman Christian Chukwu, Segun Odegbami, Stephen Keshi, Yobo Joseph, Sunday Oliseh, Austin Eguavoen.
Tarila Okorowanta, Etin Esin, Daniel Amokachi, Taribo West, Bright Omokaro and Sunday Eboigbe.

The writer probably forgot to include the great names of Henry Nwosu, Peter Rufai, Peter Fregene, etc. Infact, if Osimhen played football in Lagos in the days of St, Finbarrs, CMS grammar school, Igbobi college, ACB, Super stores, Airways, Leventis, NEPA (ECN), he would not dare. Infact, his career in football would end straightaway. Nigeria had too many football stars, mostly living in Ajegunle, Marine beach, Mushin, Lawanson, Yaba and Agege. They were massive players and very humble. We had coaches who would bench that player permanently, ruining his career, as there were much more better players waiting for opportunities. European style of soccer, money and corruption have deprived Nigeria of benefit of great players who are too many here.
abeg all of you should shattap - it seems like ona never play football before - (banter on and off the pitch can happen in sports) - no biggie - watch superbowl - u will see that alot amongst team mates and opponents --- Shaquille O'Neal and Late Kobe Bryant had it at LA Lakers --- Also in the 1980's Late Steve Keshi once pushed Sunday Eboigbe in anger that he didnt mark Roger Milla well at Morrocco' 1988 AFCON during the group matches in 1988 - We all saw it on live Tv BUT there was no social media then so it did not trend -Even Sunday Oliseh and Duke Udi almost had a brawl in their last warm up game against Togo where the Dream Team lost 1-3 in Lagos before Atlanta 1996 Olympics (where we won the gold medal) - its JUST FOOTBALL - nothing more - abeg make ona rest --- Big Boys fight no dey last -- na poor people dey carry malice go grave - both of them will still hang out and enjoy life while u borrow to sub data to yan opata on nairaland

Truth dey say is bitter , and it is palm oil hands that people can lick from you, never ready to lick that of blood For those low thinkers who see nothing wrong in that arrogant fowl Osimhen's attitudes especially with Nigeria team mates or with Nigerian football officials, when its downfall comes they'll still mock Osimhen .A dog that will lost will never listen to hunter's clarion. A talent without wisdom won't last .Be a model to PPL ,many great players have come b4 him , is he decorated like Kanu ,Finding,Ikpeba,Oliseh,Okacha,Amokachi etc l can mention 50 players greater than him. A word is enough for a wise

Written by Tunde Odesola. No surprise there grin

I was wondering how long before our sophisticated brother's introduce their tribal sentiment in this Osimehin issue.Didn't take long apparently. How predictable grin.

A few things are certain in life, Day and Night, Life and Death, and a group from a certain part of Nigeria ALWAYS being tribalists. Always.
Chinedu, there is nothing tribal about the write-up, which is intended to serve as both a warning and a guide to Osimhen. You are the one with a devilish intent, seeking to change the narrative to suit your clannish agenda. Believe it or not, we Yoruba love Osimhen and regard him as one of us, even though he is Ishan by birth. However, loving him does not mean we will not scold him whenever he misbehaves.

This is not even about Lookman being Yoruba; it is about a noticeable pattern of arrogance and ghetto-like indiscipline in Osimhen. He exhibited the same nasty behaviour toward Coach Finidi George; he threatened to beat up Boniface; he was very disrespectful to Ndidi, his captain on the pitch; and he disrespected all Nigerians by threatening to leave the Super Eagles’ camp during the ongoing AFCON. All these acts of gross misconduct by Osimhen have nothing to do with tribe. But you, Chinedu, do not know any better, because you see everything through a tribal lens.

Osimhen is one of us here in Yorubaland — we love him. But he will be thoroughly scolded if he does not shed that toga of arrogance and indiscipline with which he is being associated.

This article is so telling. Osinmhen really need to work on his emotions
I find the article very boring, uncreative and introducing uneccesary stories that makes a reader lose interest.

Some writers dont understand that being concise and going straight to the point makes an article very readable than introducing useless stories in order to increase word count and by so doing, lose connectivity in the story.

2009, I was captain of the football team, I was in SS2, there were several senior students in that team but they still deem it fit to make me captain. We were preparing for Anglican Games so we had a novelty match between the teachers and the school football team. We were already up by like 6 goals, then one of my team mates intentionally did an handball in the box 18 area so that the referee can award the teachers a penalty. If you the way I tear for am ehn, mind you this guy was my senior oh. I no even look he face, you go think say nah one final match we dey play.

You see mentality matters, when players get complacent they then to forget their targets.

The title of this thread is quite demeaning to the accomplishments of Victor Osimhen.

Osihmen also needs to calm down a lot. He should give his best and leave the rest.

.
Let me tell you, whether Finidi was a good coach or not, it didn't stop his legendary status both in the super eagles and European football. That is a former Afcon and ucl winner, pls Accord him some respect
