Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho), representing Kogi East Senatorial District, has facilitated the distribution of vehicles, equipment, and other empowerment items to constituents as part of a large-scale empowerment programme aimed at boosting livelihoods and economic activity across the district. Items distributed during the programme included school buses, Sienna buses, tricycles (Keke Napep), motorcycles, canoes, laptops, grinding machines, sewing machines, cooking gas cylinders, and other productive tools targeted at youths, women, artisans, transport operators, and small-scale entrepreneurs. The empowerment programme, held on Wednesday, attracted a large turnout of beneficiaries and stakeholders, including political leaders, traditional rulers, and party officials from across the state. Dignitaries at the event included the Kogi State Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo; the APC Kogi East Zonal Chairman, Hon. Ogwu Hassan; the Kogi State APC Secretary, Hon. Joshua Emmanuel Onoja; and the Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Hon. John Urah Ikani. Several traditional rulers were also in attendance, including the Attah Igala, represented by the Ejeh of Dekina, HRH Alhaji Usman Obaje (OON); the Ogohi Onu Anyigba, Alhaji Abuh Shuaibu Okolo; and the Onu Abocho, Chief Jonah Ejah, among others. Speaking at the event, Senator Echocho said effective representation should be measured by tangible impact and inclusive development. He noted that the empowerment initiative was designed to promote self-reliance, job creation, and economic participation among constituents. Beneficiaries and community stakeholders praised the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful, and expressed appreciation for the senator’s continued engagement with grassroots development. The programme further highlights ongoing efforts by the senator to address socio-economic challenges in Kogi East through targeted empowerment initiatives.

Moroccoguy:What do you mean by that. I think that the senator has done extremely well and I'm someone who never sees any good in Nigerian politicians. |

If we really want to experience genuine growth in Nigeria, we have to observe what successful countries are doing. Those people don't empower their people by buying them a bunch of these things we share. Instead, they set up factories that process local raw materials and sell to communities and countries that need them. Those industries employ tens of thousands of their people. That's how you empower people and get value from the empowerment project too. We need to re-think our understanding of empowerment because this thing cannot work in the 21st Century. Congratulations to the beneficiaries though |
