bidexiii:This is good news. However, to be honest I am not entirely comfortable with this new heavy reliance on the USA for arms. Beyond the typically high cost of US equipment, the US has a very active foreign policy, and once our policy interests diverge, they will simply stop all supplies of spares and ammunition for their equipment. Recall how the Obama admin frustrated the Jonathan govt , not only refusing to sell them arms, but actually preventing other western nations from selling us arms. In my view it is always safer to buy weaponry from non-aligned countries, or countries who have a weak foreign policy. I hope i am proven wrong in the long run sha. |

AFCRD 2026 Today we honour our men and women who answered the call when it mattered most. We remember those who never returned, whose names live on not only in memorials but in the freedoms we enjoy every day. And we salute the families who stand strong behind the scenes, bearing sacrifices of their own. As the flags are lowered and the celebrations conclude, the mission does not end. Service continues—in readiness, in remembrance, and in the values passed on to the next generation. On behalf of this platform and its readers, thank you to all who serve, who have served, and who support those in uniform. Your legacy endures long after the final parade and the last salute. Until we gather again—stand proud, stay strong, and know that your service is seen, respected, and never forgotten. Farewell, and God bless our Armed Forces

bidexiii:Nothing to be scared of my brother. The truth is that we need these items urgently. See the time it is taking to get brand new aircraft and attack helicopters up to 2 years in most instances. Meanwhile, aircraft generally can last a long time once they are well maintained. See all our domestic airlines now. |

NAF TAKES AIRPOWER DOCTRINE TO THE BATTLEFIELD, DEEPENS AIR-GROUND INTEGRATION IN NORTH-EAST OPERATIONS The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified efforts to sharpen its combat edge in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign by deliberately taking airpower doctrine from the classroom to the battlefield, through enhanced Air-Ground Integration (AGI) training and doctrinal alignment. This was underscored during a strategic operational assessment visit by the Commandant of the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre (AWDC), Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Jibia, to the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Maiduguri. The visit highlights the NAF’s resolve to ensure that doctrine, training, and operational realities are tightly synchronised, with air assets playing a decisive role in intelligence, surveillance, precision strikes, and close air support in direct support of ground forces. Interacting with frontline commanders and aircrew, AVM Jibia explained that the engagement was aimed at strengthening joint-force synergy, enhancing mission effectiveness, and directly interfacing with personnel deployed in the theatre, in line with the operational and Command Philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke. He emphasised that effective AGI remains a critical enabler of airpower dominance, ensuring air operations are closely coordinated with ground manoeuvres to deliver decisive operational effects. According to him, Air Marshal Aneke’s Command Philosophy places premium emphasis on deliberate training, mission-focused force development, and airmindedness, defined as a professional culture that blends skill, discipline, adaptability, and situational awareness. He further reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to expanding joint training, deepening inter-service cooperation, and promoting integrated operational planning as essential pillars of modern warfare. AVM Jibia commended OPHK troops for their gallantry, resilience, and remarkable operational successes, assuring them of sustained doctrinal and training support from the AWDC. He noted that operational concerns raised during briefings would be carefully reviewed and addressed to further enhance mission outcomes. In his response, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, welcomed the visit and reaffirmed OPHK’s commitment to adopting innovative doctrinal inputs, particularly in AGI and integrated exercises. For the NAF, the visit sent a clear message: airpower doctrine is no longer confined to manuals and classrooms, it is being tested, refined, and decisively applied where it matters most, at the heart of the fight to restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East. #NigerianAirForce #AirGroundIntegration #CounterInsurgency #OperationHadinKai #Airpower #JointOperations #DoctrineAndTraining #CASCommandPhilosophy

Troops foil ISWAP attack in Azir as NAF airstrikes neutralise fleeing terrorists The Nigerian Military troops of Operation HADIN MAI have foiled attack by ISWAP, neutralising several terrorists and disrupting their attempted withdrawal after an attack on military formation in AZIR in Damboa LGA in Borno state. Zagazola Makama report that the elimination of the terrorists followed an intervention by the Nigerian Airforce Component of Operation Hadin Kak who provided decisive close air support to ground troops during the attack in the early hours of Friday. The attackers initially attempted to breach part of the defensive perimeter but were met with overwhelming and sustained firepower from gallant troops, with support from the Air Component and other Nigerian Army aerial platforms. After a prolonged firefight lasting over an hour, the terrorists were decisively overpowered and forced to withdraw. During the engagement, the terrorists’ Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) fire affected troop-carrying vehicles which were partially gutted by fire. Despite this, troops maintained firm control of the situation. Several terrorist weapons and ammunition were recovered from the enemy’s abandoned positions, including a 60mm mortar tube, mortar bombs, locally fabricated explosives, heavy machine gun rounds and hundreds of rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition. Crucially, the operation did not end at the FOB. Persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms immediately tracked the fleeing terrorists, enabling follow-up operations along identified withdrawal routes by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK). Sources said that at about 1:40 a.m., NAF assets were immediately scrambled to provide close air support to the engaged troops. On arrival over Azir, our aircrew observed friendly forces firing in the direction of the terrorists’ withdrawal routes. The sources added that a wide-area scan of the general location revealed terrorist elements regrouping and taking cover under trees, noting that the aircrew swiftly acquired the targets and engaged them in successive, precise passes. According to the sourcss, the operation achieved its intended effect, with many terrorists neutralised and their ability to reorganise or mount further attacks in the area significantly degraded. The coordinated strikes effectively disrupted the enemy’s movement and inflicted heavy casualties. After the engagements, the aircrew conducted further scans of the area, with no additional threats observed,” the sources said. Source: @Zagazola
