This probably never happened, but it certainly makes for hilarious reading. The culture of tipping in the US is mental. Hehe cheesy

Pittsburgh, PA — Waitress Arrested After Using the Restaurant’s Leaf Blower to Blast a Zero-Tip Table Out the Door.

‎Pittsburgh police arrested 27-year-old Jordyn Hale at Steel City Smokehouse after she allegedly grabbed the restaurant’s leaf blower from the storage closet and used it to physically “encourage” a non-tipping table to leave.

‎Witnesses say the four-top treated Jordyn like a personal assistant. They sent their ribs back twice for being “too rib-like,” asked for eight drink refills, made her rehearse the specials “with more enthusiasm,” and complained that the barbecue sauce “wasn’t spiritually resonating.”

‎Jordyn kept her composure — until she collected the bill.

‎They left zero dollars on a $168 tab and wrote:

‎“You didn’t uplift our dining experience.”

‎Jordyn stared at the message, nodded once, and walked to the back where the cleaning equipment was stored.

‎She returned holding a leaf blower.

‎The table looked confused.

‎Jordyn plugged it in, pointed it at them, and yelled:

‎“GET UPLIFTED, THEN!”

‎She flipped the switch.

‎A roaring gust blasted napkins, sauce cups, and menus into the air. The group shrieked as their hair flew back like a wind tunnel photoshoot. One man grabbed his toupee mid-flight. A woman lost control of her scarf as it whipped into the next booth.

‎Someone yelled, “SHE’S AIR-FRYING THE CUSTOMERS!”

‎Jordyn shouted:

‎“THIS IS WHAT UNDERAPPRECIATION FEELS LIKE — HIGH VELOCITY!”

‎By the time police arrived, she was herding the group toward the exit with the leaf blower like a chaotic shepherd.

‎She was arrested for harassment and creating a hazard.

‎As she was escorted out, she yelled:

‎“YOU WANT UPLIFTING? TIP NEXT TIME!

All these The Onion stories are an annoying waste of time. Not surprised by who posted it.

No, i won't tip besides i'm not her employer so why should i do such a thing .

tipping is nothing but an extortion mechanism dressed as gratitude.

Na oyinbo people rinse corruption, call am another thing 🤡

They won't pay their workers well, they expect the customers to pay for their own negligence as employers. They have no shame that they have even institutionalized it into the payment system. They have almost made it impossible to remove it. What a rip off! Forced gratitude.

People like you are spiritually dark and reduce the light of enlightened and loving humanity.

Please try to stay away from restaurants and as much as possible DO NOT engage any service men or women to do any odd jobs for you, do them yourself.

You will be doing the world a favor.

Jeez.

When a bad culture has been normalized to appear as elite or decent. When is it a must to give or dash money. Una no dy get paid by your employer? Am I not paying for the service rendered or the product/food.
Re: ‎would You Let This Waitress Serve You? And Would You Tip Her? by Angelfrost(m): 3:51pm On Jan 11
Tipping culture in America borders on dumb and even psychotic sometimes.

Someone has paid the demands of the goods and services rendered, yet you still compel them against their will to gift or "dash" the server?!! Why?!!

I love tipping whenever the mood catches me, and when the service is deeply pleasing... But, I should never be compelled to do so everytime.

If the server MUST be tipped, then for Pete sake, add it to the total cost of the food... Let the extortion be complete... Don't compel or force people or psychologically manipulate them to tip any damn server!

Mtchewwwww!!! Dumb Americans!

I tip but it depends on your attitude to work while serving my table.

Fun fact: I consciously tip more in Nigeria than in the US. I feel happier nowadays as I stopped giving out to entitled people. Any youth working diligently for any organization and with great attitude brings joy to my heart. I encourage people around me to give to those who are working instead of those doing Twale everywhere.

I think you misunderstand it. It's because restaurant waiters are underpaid. They're underpaid because paying them well would make the cost FOOD too high for most people. So the system reasons that: keep the cost of eating out affordable but let the diner tip based on their ABILITY and DISCRETION. I don't think it's such a bad thing. Yes, it has its downsides - like everything else. In Nigeria, you're underpaid and no culture of tipping.

No. But this particular table stressed her. I'm not saying what she did wasn't dumb. Plus it probably didn't happen.

Bro... I disagree totally!

If the cost is going to be high, let it be high... Those who can't afford the meals can go elsewhere or cook their damn meals.

If the pay is too small, then the waiters should look for other professions.

Tipping should be personal and not even morally compelled or manipulated.

Well, this is one way of looking at it. But I don't think those working in that industry will agree with you. Higher foods mean lower patronage. That means fewer people employed and all.

Spiritually dark because he is reserved against modernized begging?. I know he renders sevice too in one form or the other and it is only fair that you state your price that would enable you to sufficiently cater for your business and workforce without parading around as entitled beggars.

In the US, you're "expected" to give tips for every service, even uber....If you don't, you'll be seen as a stingy human who lacks empathy. Some can even attack you just like in the thread!

You dont don't understand the philosophy of tips.
It is also one thing to say you may not give tips in some instances but quite another thing to say or suggest that it is inherently wrong to do so, ever.

That's not true. That's the excuse they just make to justify what they are doing. You do realize that even food delivery workers demand tip? Have you seen the video of the man who brought a gun to the customer's house because he wasn't given a tip? So if it is about the cost, what cost is the delivery person saving or costing? smiley

Whatever you have paid for is what you have paid for. Any other cost is extortion and that is what it is.
It's corruption. QED
