Labour Party Declares Alex Otti National Leader by Segunbabba(op): 4:36pm On Jan 10
The Labour Party, LP, has officially recognized Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, as its national leader and extended its best wishes to the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his move to the coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This was disclosed by the party’s National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha, in a communique. It stated that the decision was reached during a meeting of the Labour Party National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday. The meeting focused on issues related to the party’s stability, growth, and strategic direction.

The NWC, in a unanimous decision, affirms its recognition of His Excellency, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, as the National Leader of the Labour Party,” the communique partly read. The National leadership of the Labour Party wishes His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi success in his future political endeavors and in his new political affiliation.”

The party also announced that former Finance Minister Nenadi Usman has been recognized as its National Chairman. LP emphasized that it upholds the Supreme Court judgment of April 4, 2025, which ruled that the tenure of Julius Abure as National Chairman had expired.

The party urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accord Usman and Secretary Nwokocha all rights and privileges as stipulated by the court’s decision. The NWC reaffirmed that all congresses and the National Convention of the Party shall proceed in strict compliance with the Party Constitution. Members at all levels are encouraged to actively participate in these congress processes,” the communique added.

LP expressed gratitude to its members and the Nigerian public for their continued support and confidence, reaffirming that the party remains united, indivisible, and steadfast in its mission to build a Nigeria grounded in equal opportunity, social justice, and good governance.

Labour Party is as confused as its former Presidential candidate. It is just drifting aimlessly to oblivion like the person mentioned.

Tinubu has realized that Abure was a tragic mistake; unfortunately, Peter Obi is in the COALITION, so no more divided opposition votes.

Well deserved. Obi is not worthy to be a leader.

Albeit. This looks like bribery. He'll decamp regardless, if he has the intention to do so.
