Have you ever felt a quiet tension in your faith? Not a doubt about God, but a confusion about His family. That moment when someone asks, “What kind of church do you go to?” and you hesitate, knowing that your answer might come with a label, a set of assumptions, maybe even a wall. If you’ve ever looked at the beautiful, complicated tapestry of Christianity with its hundreds of denominations, traditions, and styles and wondered, “Where is Jesus in all of this?”… then this message is for you. So often, our journey begins not with Christ alone, but with a version of Christ, wrapped in a specific culture, practice, and theology. We become Presbyterian, or Pentecostal, or Catholic, or Non-Denominational. And these communities become our home—they give us family, structure, and language for our faith. But sometimes, without us even noticing, the label can become louder than the name it’s supposed to represent. We can become defenders of a tradition more than disciples of a Person. We can know the nuances of our denomination’s stance better than the heart of our Savior. What if the most radical, unifying choice we can make isn’t about finding the perfect denomination… but about deliberately, faithfully choosing Jesus above them all? Choosing Jesus over denominations does not divide the church; it actually brings true unity. When Christ is at the center, believers from different backgrounds can worship together, serve together, and love one another deeply. Colossians chapter 3 verse 11 reminds us that in Christ there is no division, but “Christ is all, and is in all.” So today, choose Jesus. Choose His voice over human opinions. Choose His love over religious pride. Choose His truth over traditions that divide. Let your faith be defined not by a name on a building, but by a living relationship with Jesus christ. Because in the end, it is not about denominations. It is about Jesus and He alone is worthy to be followed. Emahope:Nice one but I hope you know that this isn't practical unless you don't attach yourself to any church and all you do is worship from home and decide the doctrines of Christ for yourself |

Jesus can't be where you don't associate with your fellow worshipers {Hebrews 10:24-25} to carry out the task Jesus assigned to his disciples. Matthew 18:20 So you must IDENTIFY the gathering of true Christians and associate with them because that's where your salvation lies! Psalms 133:1-3 ![]() |

tctrills:It is poverty that makes people want to attach themselves to other people otherwise you don't need church. These pastors are the ones that need people the most..If people ignore them, they are doomed. Doctrines are not meant to decide by anyone, not even pastors. search the scriptures for yourself. The most practical Christian life is not the one you live by church doctrines. It is the one you live on your own in the circular world outside the church. |

paxonel:You mean rich Christians don't go to church, they stay at home and search the scriptures while only the poor christians go to church. This is the first time I am hearing this one |

tctrills:no, that's not what i mean! Check it, among all the people that attach themselves to their pastors and are regular in church, over 75% of them are poor people whose source of livelihood depends on the pastor. While many of the church members who are not regular in church are self dependent. That self dependency is what should be. Not the other way round |

paxonel:Now, you are saying a different thing. Initially, you said, "It is poverty that makes people want to attach themselves to other people; otherwise, you don't need church." Are you taking that back, or are you doubling down? Again, what do you mean when you say " attach themselves to their pastors" Then you went ahead to decide what percentage is poor. How did you come up with you 75%? Lastly, did it ever occur to you that the wealthy are generally much fewer than the rest of the population, so we generally have much less christian millioniares when compared to the rest of society? |
