A tragic incident has been reported at River Valley Estate in Lagos, where a man identified as Ayoola Ayanwale is alleged to have brutally attacked and killed his wife, Ganiyat Ayoola, in their home.
According to multiple sources familiar with the incident, the suspect allegedly carried out the violent attack in the presence of their children before fleeing the scene. He is said to have inflicted multiple stab wounds on the woman, including injuries to her chest and other parts of her body, which reportedly led to severe blood loss.

Neighbours in the area claim the deceased had endured prolonged physical abuse in the marriage. On the day of the incident, residents reportedly heard her cries for help but were unable to intervene in time.

During the attack, the couple’s 13-year-old daughter allegedly witnessed her mother’s final moments and ran out of the house screaming for help, drawing attention to the unfolding tragedy.

Ganiyat Ayoola was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later confirmed dead. Shockingly, sources further alleged that after she was taken away, the suspect returned to the house, cleaned up bloodstains and other evidence, packed his belongings, and then went into hiding.

Although the Lagos State Police Command has not yet released an official statement on the matter, the circumstances surrounding the incident have raised suspicions of premeditation among members of the public.

The family of the deceased is now appealing to anyone with useful information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to contact law enforcement authorities, urging that justice be served.

Investigations are said to be ongoing.

🕊️ May her soul rest in peace.

Ogun Police Confirm Death of River Valley Estate Murder Suspect

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of Mr. Ayoola Ayanwale, the prime suspect in the River Valley Estate murder case.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the suspect was found gasping for breath in an open field in the Sotubo area of Ogun State. He was subsequently pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

According to DSP Babaseyi, preliminary findings suggest that the suspect may have taken his own life on January 9, 2026. He added that the police have launched a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Items recovered at the scene include a bottle containing a suspected liquid substance, two mobile phones, a voter’s card, and an ATM card, all of which reportedly confirm the deceased’s connection to the earlier murder case.

Meanwhile, the couple’s three children have been placed in the care of relatives. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The kind of trauma the 13 years old child would grow with.....

Why didn't either party leave? Now he left to hide and she left as a carcass.

I hope her family gets justice.

Hmmn... It's a pity that some people still see marriage as a do or die affair. I can't leave because of my children.... People will laugh at me for leaving my husband....The children you were holding onto your marriage for, who will look after them now?

If the man stabbed her in the neck , leg or abdomen and hit a vital vessel, there is nothing that can be done most of the time.

Even then, there is the option of walking away and starting again.

Many men who have hoes as wives have done that. No one dies, no one goes to prison.

To what end?

Only regrets...

Walking away is not weakness.

No marriage should degenerate to the level of physical abuse, and even worse, homicide.

When it gets to when you have to raise your hands on your partner - that is the time to walk away.

Well cleaning up evidence like that doesn't mean he was successful in cleaning all the evidence

Infact a good forensic scientist can find out evidence even if there is a cleanup.

Also, even in saner climes, women have been killed in their homes as well as men by their spouses and the police arrive after the fact. Life no be that perfect
