Bachama Christian militia groups in Adamawa State have accused the state government and security agencies of taking sides in the ongoing violent clashes with fellow Christian Tchobo tribesmen in Lamurde Local Government Area.

According to the militia leadership, the alleged bias has weakened efforts to restore peace, with security interventions said to favour one party over the other. In a controversial appeal, the Bachama militia commander has called on the government to withdraw all security personnel from the area, insisting that both sides should be allowed to confront each other directly.

Reports indicate that the crisis has been ongoing since early December 2025, with repeated retaliatory attacks recorded on both sides, leading to rising tension and insecurity across affected communities.

It is further alleged that radical Tchobo Christian fighters mobilised reinforcements from neighbouring Gombe State, launching coordinated attacks on Bachama Christian settlements within Lamurde LGA.

Sources say the conflict is deeply rooted in long-standing disputes over traditional kingship and land ownership, issues that have repeatedly sparked violence in the area.

Residents are now calling for urgent and impartial intervention to prevent further bloodshed and restore lasting peace.

Two tribes are fighting which I have come to recognize as a common trend among tribes in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria and you are saying "Christian militias"? Are you okay?
Re: Adamawa: Bachama & Tshobo Militias Clash Over Land, Kingship by Odingo1: 9:46am On Jan 12
They are fighting over kingship not Christian militia
Re: Adamawa: Bachama & Tshobo Militias Clash Over Land, Kingship by BlackViper: 9:48am On Jan 12
There has been a desperate attempt in certain parts of the country ever since the United States declared genocide of Christians to create a fictional counter narrative of Christian violence.

Otherwise why would a communal land dispute suddenly be branded "Christian militias?"

Has the Ife/Modakeke land issue ever been identified by religious affiliation of the combatants? Of course not because it doesn't suit the narrative.

But they want to divert attention away from the activities of herdsmen and jihadists so this is their strategy for the middle belt

Very useless Headline, what is the meaning of Christian Militias, This is clearborder dispute
Re: Adamawa: Bachama & Tshobo Militias Clash Over Land, Kingship by Christmyhope:
They are fighting over land and kingship and not because Jesus Christ commanded them to kill and destroy each other. This is totally different from the bandits and boko-haram who get their motivation from their own book and prophet. You can see when they shout Allah-Akbar to the praise of their god and prophet.
Re: Adamawa: Bachama & Tshobo Militias Clash Over Land, Kingship by dederocs(m): 11:22am On Jan 12
This Op is deliberately trying to smear Christianity...when the story clearly said it's tribal conflicts. Evil people instead of stopping almajirism and things that create Islamic jihadists terrorism, you are trying to malign Christianity. The difference between the two religion is like black and white.

Don't mind them, they just want to start an alternate narrative. Yes, the early christians were quite violent, with the crusades, inquisition et al but all that is long gone. Are these ones perpetrating violence in Jesus name? Even if the militants are christians, the conflict is not religious based, they are fighting over land.

The Niger-Delta militants, irrespective of their religion are fighting for resource control. Other violent groups across the country also have their defined causes. So, it is totally wrong to give a religious tag except there is evidence that a particular religion is being propagated by the group.

@seun kindly take note because this is on the front page and by implication, it bears your endorsement.

Re: Adamawa: Bachama & Tshobo Militias Clash Over Land, Kingship by TrainPark: 11:44am On Jan 12
This topic is wickedly construed in a biased, malicious manner.

What is your proof that the militia is driven by religious motivations? did you hear them chanting religious slogans like Allahu Akbar, etc? Prove that there are no Muslims in these tribal groups?

You are just trying to introduce a religious spin to a strictly tribal clash so that you can justify the fact that your Fulani terrorists militia always chant Islamic slogans while perpetrating their evil kidnap, rape and murder.

This clash is tribal and has nothing to do with religion. both tribes have Muslims, Christians and Idol worshippers!

Which one is Christian militia, muslims doings so that they can say there's a Christian terrorist group, this is a clash between two village or local government or two tribes in adamawa state, there's no such thing as Christian militia group, if you investigate deeply you will find out that the people behind this narratives are muslims.

Nothing like Christian militia group, Christians don't fight for their God, they don't kill in the name of their God and Christians don't force others to serve their
God.
Infact everything muslims terrorists do in the name of their God is the against the doctrine of christianity

I won't be surprised if the person behind SecuritybriefNG is a Meuslim.

Lots of lying, deception and falsehood are needed to promote Isleam since the religion can't be promoted by telling the truth
Re: Adamawa: Bachama & Tshobo Militias Clash Over Land, Kingship by grandstar(m): 11:49am On Jan 12
I kinow some people have alreasy concluded that's it's a Muslim vs Christian clash.

It is actually Christan vs Christian.

What is the difference between Adamawa and Taraba state which were carved out from the former Gongola state?

Adamawa is majority Christian while Taraba is majority Christian.
Re: Adamawa: Bachama & Tshobo Militias Clash Over Land, Kingship by nairalanda1(m): 11:49am On Jan 12
So, why are they clashing.

IN 1991, our population was just 88.9 million people

Today...it's anywhere from 160-230 million people.

And even back in 1991, we had land clashes. Now imagine how it is today...

We have a growing population with the land not growing at all. And one of the ways it manifests is in issues like these.

Add the fact that we are a majority agraraian society. If we werre say an industrial society, most of the young people in Adamawa would be migrating to the big cities, like most nigerians for jobs and so forth. But because education does not guarantee one a job in our resource dependent economy, better to even y'know..stay and farm

Again, we went from 89 million to 160-230 million people.

That's the blunt truth.

Worse, the government has done nothing about the population explosion surge. No large scale family planning awareness campaign since 1999. None whatsoever.

There are no jobs for the surplus labor for those leaving the rural areas to the cities.
