No fewer than 12 persons were massacred by gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias in Benue community.

Salemgists gathered that bodies of the victims recovered so far included women and children.

Sources in the community revealed that the heartless gunmen lunch the attack Monday night at about 11pm on Tiortyu community in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was also gathered that the local government is where the current minister of special duties and intergovernmental affairs, Sen. George Akume hails from.

Another source told salemgists that several others who sustained injuries from gunshots while fleeing the attack are currently receiving treatment at the NKST Christian Hospital in Uchi.

As at the time of this report, youths of the area are protesting against the deadly attack. The protesting youths blocked the Makurdi-Gboko-Calabar Road grounding traffic on the ever-busy major highway.
