Godwin opara, replace Yobo
finidi George replace yekini
Celestine babayoro replace taiwo

But that midfield is solid

Where are the subs

Kanu might be adjudged as Nigeria best but come to super eagles he should be on the bench, even Samson Siasia was better than him talking super eagles.

4.Stephen Keshi
5.Christian Chuckwu
6.Sunday Oliseh

The Nigeria Best XI selected would have well accepted if it was not mixed with departed soul like Stephen Keshi, Rasheed Yekini etc. When selecting Nigeria Best XI, let's use the current players to select our best XI because the dead cannot be resurrected to play the game again.
Will the retired ones play again?

Where is Ikpeba
Re: Is This Nigeria Best XI In History? by chucky101(m): 12:38pm On Jan 12
Remove Mikel Obi from there and replace him with Alex Iwobi. Change the formation to Diamond, Kanu behind the 2 strikers. Babayaro in for Taiwo.

Kanu cannot play in a 4-3-3 formation as a winger; he is best suited as an RCF, maybe as an out and out CF but not ST. Yekini and Osihmen can play together in a 4-4-2 not in 4-3-3. What happened to having wingers like Amuneke, Siasia, Tijani, Finidi and Obafemi Martins?

In the midfield, playing Mikel as a single pivot cannot work in either 4-3-3 or 4-4-2; it's best to play Mikel and Oliseh as a double pivot in 4-3-3 or 4-5-1. Okocha, yes can always be in the AM position. Daniel Amokachi, Mutiu Adepoju, Ndidi, Okocha Snr are honourablke mentions.

In the defence, where is Uche Okechukwu? Keshi and Okechukwu as CBs would work. Babayaro and Taiwo as RB and LB respectively. Not forgetting Yobo, Uche Okafor, Ben Iroha.

Victor Enyema is undisputable!

The starting point is this

The highest rated Nigeria team was ranked FIFA number 6

So the starting point is the first 11 in 1994

Then who would you replace from that team

In that Team Okocha was mostly on the bench

Kanu had not yet entered the Nationa team

The preferre midfielder was Oliseh

Also we would not play 3 strikers

So it would be either Yekini or Osimhen

Not both

Also that team was based on players who could run on the wings

I have not seen anyone that can take 7 from Finidi George
Also who will replace Amunike or Amokachi

Even Ikpeba could not make the first eleven and he could stroll into the team today

The two players not in the 94 squad that I would push are Celestine Babayaro and Taribo West
Uche Okechukwu goes nowhere
I love Keshi die but he is on the bench

So if Okocha is not in the team Kanu is not in the team Adepoju is not in the Team then who is

The front needs Segun Odegbami on the right and Adokiye Amesiamaka on the left with Yekini ahead. The middle needs Henry Nwosu. The back needs Enmanuel Okala, Bright Omokaro and Austin Eguavon.

this can never and would never be. the current crops of players can't match up the older generations.

after the 94 set, Atlanta 96 Nigeria was done for in football, I keep saying it, watching those generations play while they are losing you still would enjoy watching them.

there are players the current (genzee) don't know about eg Segun Odegbami, Christian Chukwu, Patrick Okala, Samuel Okparaji etc.

Hahahaha. All these cannot enter that all time best eleven. They are good no doubt but not the best. Only change i feel the squad need is Celestine Babayaro replacing Taye Taiwo.
You are right, even Daniel Amokachi should be in that list too!

Morroco has a lot to do. If they Cage one, there are more firepower that's uncaged...even iwobi is dangerous.
Thats what I like about this team, the team is attack minded. From Akor, Osimhen, Lookman, Iwobi, Bassey and even semi Ajayi. All of them fit score if you no close your defence well.

Good selection but Yekini isn't a supporting sticker in a 4_3_3 team, he a pure number 9.

Oshimen himself claims that yekini remains the greatest Nigerian forward even if he surpasses his goals for the national team.
He was only being humble. Take it or leave it. Osihmen will go down as the greatest striker this country ever produced. Unless he retires today
Re: Is This Nigeria Best XI In History? by gbengene1234(m): 1:33pm On Jan 12
Yekini over Osimeh
Okocha over Mikel
Keshi should make the list.
Lookman should make the list.
Vincent should make the list

The rest can fight for their place.

Let me check

I think I disagree.

Celestine Babayaro over Yobo, Yobo is over glazed.

Finidi George over Oliseh, forget that classic world cup goal.

Rashidi Yekini over Osimehn, at least for now.
Olise was a DM, the finest Nigeria ever had, Babayaro was a LB and never played as a RB like Yobo.
