Pls do, coz this misconception don dey too much
Okay. If she earns £200 a day and she works 4 times a week that's £800 a week and £3200 a month right. Her tax and NI would be around £790, meaning her take home is £2410. As a single earning that I believe her spendings should be according to her earnings. A shared apartment outside London average at £450 bills included. With £200 feeding is more than Okay Leaving her with £1760 .it's not bad at all

Reinvest in a place that Nigerian politicians both elected and appointed are determined to destroy?

You are ignorantly calling me a liar? Let me repeat this again, in the UK you don't pay TV licence if you don't watch live program, you do not pay TV licence if you only watch recorded or repeated progs.
Okay, who pays TV Licence in the UK...

(the TV licence website is down today, so we are stuck with AI summaries)

Who Needs a Licence
Anyone watching live TV: This means any programme as it's broadcast on TV, radio, or online.
Anyone using BBC iPlayer: Even if you don't watch live TV, using BBC iPlayer requires a licence.
Any device: Covers TVs, computers, laptops, tablets, phones, games consoles, etc..
Businesses: If staff, customers, or guests watch live TV or use iPlayer on premises

Only if you watch On demand tv...ie non live tv..eg streaming services...and radio.

SO, you got a tv, it is assumed you watch live shows like BBC Breakfast, sky news, news channels, even sports.

60% of Nigerians bypass paying for power supply? You still wonder Nigeria is crewed up? You have the gut to compare cost of living in Nigeria to that of the UK?
Here you sound like the guy who says he has to own a car, even though his montly income is N20000.

If most people don't pay or underpay for the power they use, where are the power companies going to get the money to fix or improve power?

Oga, you really are very funny. No one can pay N400 for a car, which is what you are advocating in essence.

Standard of living doesn't respect cost of things. COst of something doesn't respect your pocket or how much one earns. Otherwise millions would be underpaid, and nothing would be made at all. It costs money to give everyone good power, and it must be paid for.

You don't pay council tax in Nigeria but you pay income tax and got nothing from it.
Again, 10 million out of 230 million pay income tax. You thnk that's enough to cover a whole ass country like Nigeria?

Right.

Nigeria is not making enough money as an oil producing nation? Nigeria is not making enough money but your politicians earns more than politicians in the UK?
This is the funniest joke of the lot you tell here.

There is a reason why most of us believe that the Jerry Rawlings solution should be applied to corrupt politicans here. It is not just that they are stealing, they are stealing from a broke nation

We also produce 1.4 million bpd. That yields somewhere around 50-100 billion dollars annually. The UK's NHS costs, annually, nearly 300 billion dollars.

So, you want us to provide healthcare like UK's NHS for a population larger than the UK by far on earnings that are one third of what is needed for the UK'\s NHS alone?

Oga, you support Tinubu's borrowing agenda. Say it out loud and don't lie.

So if you don't pay tax or hate paying one ...why are you expecting to enjoy benefits that comes from taxes?
[/quote]How do you expect revenue from 10 million people in tax to cover 230 million people, plus oil revenue that is scanty to do same, without borrowing, plus the stealing tha thappens because most of you refuse to call gofment to account?

Oga, don't argue with me. You know I am right, but you don't like the truth because you think I am telling you YOU are responsible for Nigeria's problems. I am not, and you know it.

In this eye-opening video, I visit a real UK building site, carry heavy blocks, mix cement, and chat with bricklayers to find out what they ACTUALLY earn in just 8 hours!
General labourer (feeding blocks): £150/day ≈ ₦290,000–₦300,000+ (at current rates!)
Beginner bricklayer: £200/day ≈ ₦380,000+ Naira!
Compare that to typical Nigerian bricklayer pay (₦5,000–₦20,000/day) — the difference is massive! Is japa worth it? 💭 (Remember: UK has taxes, high bills & living costs — but the raw earnings are wild!)
This is raw, on-site truth — no cap! 🔥

Compare Nigeria with Senegal, Kenya, Rwanda, Namibia, Ivory Coast etc first before you jump to UK.

If you are desperate to prove stupid points but need help then go ahead and check GDP-related data so you debate facts not emotions & wild imaginations.

Una and rubbish talk. You get taxed, yeah, but that's roughly 15 percent of your income with 12570 pounds as untaxable income. The remaining 85 percent is yours to decide how you spend. If you can't save, it is not the government, it is you.

Una go dey compare nonsense. There is not a single individual living legally in the UK that will be compared to a Nigerian counterpart.
oga tan is not 15%

Haha, no.

As an example, if you have a TV in your house, in Nigeria, you pay nothing to the government, in the UK, you pay a TV Licence.
Also, you can spend as much as 30 pounds monthly for power supply for a one room house..that's 60000 naira.
Then there is council tax, etc.
do you know how many appliances in that 1 room?
You think you don't pay tax in Nigeria? What do you think police do at check points? Bills are the same. But more importantly after the bills they build mansions in Nigeria while Nigerians no even see work to do in the first place

There's actually also a TV License tx in Nigeria. It's just being enforced yet. Wike tried to do it in FCT sometime last year but got resisted and piped down.

It may not be too long before FG remembers it again and decide to drive full implementation. Living in Nigeria is actually expensive when fully considered. its jus that u can do so without some things that are considered neccesiities in the first world. But that living without thwm is why Nigeria's general life expectancy is way lower than in these saner countries.

e..g there are more articulate and coherent 80 yr olds in the UK than in nNigeria... not that nigerians dont live to be 80+ its that the proportion is lesser and even those that do, a lot of them lose their mind and mental acuity by that time.

There is no TV licence in Nigeria then

Also life in the UK is expensive. My saying that doesn't excuse bad government in Nigeria.

Finally our country is in a mess because we rely on oil , not on industrial goods and services we make. And we have very poor tax uptake.

And at no where did I defend corruption

No bricklayer in the UK will be allowed to dress that way for work ever with no safety gear at all. The contractors won't even dare because they know the lawsuit awaiting them incase of any accident.

So I'll take this with a pinch of salt.

You are not understanding what I am saying yet, I am not saying the other side is not better , what I am saying is that because of devaluation of currency what a person earning 2.5 million naira is not different from someone earning 20 million naira, the only difference between there and here is structure ours is more dysfunctional than theirs because they have structures and have welfare in their plan anyone there will thrive

I understood you, clearly. Let me also say my point again, there is underpayment of labour hours in Nigeria, forget about the exchange rate. Labour market is not regulated in Nigeria and exploitation of cheap labour is too rampant and that's why labourers/workers are being given peanuts as wages and salaries.
Imagine a labourer being paid 5,000 naira for a whole day! What can such amount do?

Does that person look like someone on site? That's just content.

Labourers jobs on construction are not constant first of all n no way they could earn 200 for 8hrs.

Lastly for single person to save 1700 on minimum wage is not feasible unless they don't pay taxes.

Or do u save 1700 on minimum wage.. Have u done thay before? Because that's around close to what i and my spouse save with both working full time and some time overtime. I mean combine savings

I don't understand ur 12570 untaxed.. Because the government only tax 20% each month from my pay slip. The only time i got a refund was my first year which is the 12570 u talking about right?

Like say u enter uk free of charge.

We have people spending 40 to 50 million to UK right now on study visa.

So tell me how u gonna recover that money with just 1 and 6 months post studyhuh? This should be the conversation now that sponsorship is almost not in existence or u think uk will give u visa as a laborer?
It means that if you earns £20,000 a year, £12,570 will not be taxed, only £7,430 will be taxed at 20%

Calm down bro. I calculated based on the data provided be it real or content. Now to your assertion that it's impossible for a single person to save 1700 monthly, people save more bro. I have a friend in Newcastle who is here alone . His family is in Nigeria. This guy works as a support worker. And do you pay council tax plus income tax in Nigeria? Council tax in the UK can be between 180-200 pounds...monthly Or,345000-390000 naira monthly?

Most of us don't do above, and we want UK level of schools, streetlight, steet cleaning, and the list goes on?

Are you dreaming?

Where is the benefit when only 10 million people pay out of 230 million, and tax to gdp is below even that of Niger republic?
