Op, No cause for alarm.

Nobody is closing Alaba market. If you enter Alaba to buy goods, You have to be street smart and careful. If you are JJC. You need someone who had been in lagos for too long to accompany you. There are both Original and fake products. Na so every market day.

That's is Lagos life for you. Shine you eyes.

But there is no evidence that anyone built Lagos but Yoruba. We know Jakande paid 50 million dollars for a metro that was cancelled by Buhari in 1984. Lagos is part of the SW and was part of the western region. I believe up to 80 percent of Lagos population is Yoruba but no census yet. It will be the same for investments. The last census that showed ethnicity was in the 70s and it showed 15 percent Igbos. That was when Igbos had no city up to Abeokuta and Ibadan was bigger than Lagos. Nowadays that there are many cities in Igbo land and Ibadan is much lower in population than Lagos, how many Igbos will be in Lagos?. There are no Igbo elected person in Lagos whether through state elections or federal. Cities that were built by Nigeria are Eastern cities. Not Yoruba cities. Yoruba had eighty percent of Nigerian cities before independence. In Nigeria, it was Ibadan before Lagos. If Enugu were in the North, there would be a settler indigene crisis there just like in Jos. The first Mayor was Hausa. Nigeria is cheating Lagos not developing Lagos and Lagos needs to start making things difficult for importers if the FG does not start paying them part of port revenue like they pay to oil states. Because non Yorubas have a few buildings in Lagos state does not mean they built Lagos.

FG is owing Lagos money and not the other way round. They are owing Lagos lots of money. Lagos should be collecting hundreds of billions of naira from port revenue annually that they are not being given. Some countries are largely financed by port revenue just like some countries are largely financed from oil. Therefore stop saying Nigeria built Lagos because Nigeria is rather destroying or setting back Lagos

All this braggado online have no effect in real life. Things are however getting out of control as it is reported Igbos killed two Yorubas in Lagos during the last Presidential elections.

On Alaba, thirty percent of traders in Alaba are Yoruba. I know people there and a closure of the place will not affect only Igbos. Nobody has however said the place will be closed down

There is no where in the world where there is no substandard product even in America, uk name them that's why there are products with warranty and those without warranty, it's your choice to buy either original or fake one, there prices are different. Without those substandard product many Nigeria can not afford basic electronics in there home and office's
Substandard is not the same as fake product. Substandard is when a product is of lesser quality than its peers, no one will criminalise you if you sell a substandard product that is approved by SON. But when such product is labeled with another brand name it becomes fake.

You can import your substandard product and call it ObiTV no one will query you but don't label your substandard product LG. That's criminal and won't be allowed

That TV labelling being done in Alaba is done in almost all non-fully developed societies. Can the average Nigeria purchase an LG TV worth 2 million when he only has 400k. The shops that runs it should be penalized as what they are doing is a crime. The market should not be made to pay the price by shutting it down.

The thing is that most of these importers go to China and import the cheap ones. It is very easy and simple for them. The same thing is been done in countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh.

You mean people produce fake pharmaceutical products, fake baby formulas, fake beverages, fake toothpastes etc in America and then label them substandard products and sell to Americans? Can you just listen to yourself? Is saner climes, folks like you would have been arrested for economic terrorism. You’re not different from Gumi who supports terrorism. Don’t worry, your day is coming. Justice will catch up with you very soon.

For close to forty years now fake and standard electronic products have been sold at Alaba Market. About time they move the illicit trade to where it belongs!
You think China sells everything original and high quality

In every market you will find substandard items. It is you that will make a choice or close your eyes too buy because the cost is very low you think that you are wise

I saw it coming immediately obi officially announced his move to adc. They will bring more igbo properties down, close markets and even violent protest. So igbos in lagos should get prepared. Then it will never make us vote SW president for any reason. Thus is when all igbos must vote who ever adc produces to stop lagos monopoly in economic activities that has to do with igbos
Re: As They Prepare To Close Alaba International Market by Appletek: 10:44am On Jan 12
Owobokiri, If they have to burn down the entire Alaba market to stop the proliferation of fake items, I will willingly supply fuel.

You can go take the criminals taking these things to your tiny region, no problem. But that nonsense won't tolerated here.

End of discussion
I don't know how any sane mind will be defending counterfeiting of brands to deceive consumers
If a consumer can't afford LG, he has the right to know he's buying IG not passing of IG as LG to him. That's fraud and criminal

If the average Nigerian can't afford LG, why pass IG off as LG to him?
Why deceive him and scam him of his hard earned money?

Alaba market shouldn’t just be shut down, it should be demolished completely and never allowed to be rebuilt. That market has done nothing but serious harm to the health and wellbeing of Nigerians. About time the right thing is done.

Any market where fake products is discovered the whole market should be closed down.

Some people are acquiring dirty wealth at the detriment of people well-being.
Why punish those that are selling genuine products? To eliminate this problem we have to cut off the head of the snake. Custom and SON needs to investigated and put on their toes
