It serves him right , Alaafin has been revelling in unwarranted superiority context in this modern civilization where the roles of Obas are nowhere to be found in the constitution.
Olubadan is far below Alaafin in the traditional context but political and geographical influences have turned the tide so Alaafin better stop those lopsided historical tirade

History has it that Okanbi probably died early. Obalufon 1, a key figure in the early Ife empire succeeded Oduduwa. He wasn't his biological son.

Eventually, Oduduwa's biological grandson Oranmiyan returned to Ife and became Ooni.
True. Oranmiyan was the first Alaafin of Oyo and eventually returned to Ife to become Ooni.

I am Igbo so I won't claim to be an expert in Yoruba history. But from the little history I know should the alaffin of oyo not be the highest stool in Yoruba land? I know of the great oyo empire that stretched far and wide. I have never heard of ife empire or Ibadan empire. I believe that Ibadan was under the control of the alaffin so olubadan naturally should be a subject of the alaffin. If this was the 16th century the olubadan would be beheaded for this disrespect. The alaffin was a good king like Xerxes of persia
The so-called Oyo Empire is history as written by the white man. And Oyo empire itself became famous only because they had great warriors who were fighting wars and conquered some additional territories. But seniority among Yoruba Obas is not about military strength.
Even at that, none of the Yoruba kingdoms could ever wage war against Ile-Ife because that is sacred their source and other kingdoms would rise against any kingdom that wages war against Ile-Ife.
There is no sensible Yoruba man or woman that would ever say the Alaafin is higher than Ooni in terms of seniority. Only ignorant people o would make that silly mistake.

Respect is earned not given
The fact is that the Olubadan is an elderly man while the Alafin is a young man. The Olubadan may feel insulted that the young man is demanding a handshake from an elderly man like him.

It is very disrespectful for the Alaafin to sit down and stretch out his hand to shake the Olubadan while he (Olubadan) was on his feet.
In Yoruba culture, he should have found a way to greet the Olubadan behind closed doors, and not to stretch out his hands like that in public!

Some of you just type whatever you like and you are only giving publicity to your ignorance Oduduwa, the Yoruba deity, had just *one biological son* named Okanbi (also called Omonide). Okanbi fathered *seven children*, considered Oduduwa's grandchildren, who founded various kingdoms:
- *Olowu of Owu*
- *Onisbe of Sabe*
- *Onipopo of Popo*
- *Oba of Benin*
- *Orangun of Ila*
- *Alaketu of Ketu*
- *Alafin of Oyo
Where is Oni there
Ooni was the High Priest of ile-ife and over the years came to be revered as a priest-king.

We all know the truth but some truths may be uncomfortable.
Same with you Igbos, some children moved abroad ages ago and established new base but their family house in the village still remained. If your village Dibia is asked to oversee your family house, does that make him and his descendants the lawful owners and leaders of your lineage? Even if Dibia's offsprings decided to cut and join history and tales by moonlight to divert the truth, it will continue to hook them for neck forever. Dibia na Dibia.
Just leave our people with abracadabra. We know each other very well grin

You really tried but if you have time you can do your research about Ibadan town, they are warrior. Fought for Yoruba lands. Different warriors settled in Ibadan and they have their own way of ruling, Ibadan has 4 different palace, one of the Palace is Ade Oyo palace. Oba Ibikunle is the warrior his was using 2 lions to fight. One in his right and the other one in the left side, he has his own palace too, if youre going to Agbeni market you will pass his palace and his status is their till tomorrow. When civilisation came they choose one King to be their head which is the throne that Oba Adewolu Ladoja is. Alafin cannot do that in the olding days because their king is Warrior (Balogun). Ibadan people dont joke with their king.

Oranmiyan proved he was the son of The Source and not an impostor; that is why he abandoned the inferior throne of Alaafin of Oyo (which he founded) to seek the superior throne of Ooni of Ife (as a true grandson of Oduduwa).
Anyway, there are always mischief and trouble makers in every family, lineage, kingdom, who always fight whatever they cannot have or cannot become.
People like Alaafin and his supporters are free to make up stories and tell lies that make them feel important and happy with themselves.

That is very good, the Makinde selected Aalafin should be placed in his place.
Since he became king he has been rude to those he isn’t suppose to be rude, so this is a welcome development.

Whatever the case is, this is not good for the optics. They are custodians of our culture, tradition, values, and ethos. This public show of grudges and infighting doesn’t send any good message to the people they are leading. They can both do better.

Again, it’s time for those who think they are presiding over a dead empire to wake up to reality. There is no Oyo empire anywhere again. There is no Alaafin of Yoruba land anywhere in the world today. Owoade is Alaafin of Oyo Ago Oja and no where else. Those pushing him to be looking for trouble all over the place are just setting him up for problem and eventual failure. It’s time to desist.

I dont rate the two of them. What did they bring to civilization?? The only true kingship in the whole world is the English stool. English kings brought Western civilization and Christianity to Africa
