How are u sure it is not necessary, you guys are daft , armed robbers and bandits camouflage using this on their leisure time , a snap check on verifying such may lead to big discovery . u drug & tiktok filled brain heads shud at least think well sometimes, as long as the approach is right , the army can snap the genuineness of such person
That is police work
Unless the soldiers are deployed they have no authority to police civilian areas
After beating as they do what next
Can they take a statement or charge him to court?

It is understandably in their patrol areas not in the market but
They will do this in Oshodi not Banana Island
If. Any big man's child does it nothing will happen

If they see Oyibo doing it they will look away

People should learn to respect themselves.
Every educated person in this country knows that wearing the military clothing is a violation of military ethics...

Of all clothings, why must I choose to wear military attire in public??

Once you cross the border at Benin...

You'll realise that this practice is nothing but absolute booolllsh-it.

Not forgetting that security forces around neighbouring West African countries are more coordinated and professional than ours by far.

It is quite funny that wearing military cap or it's camouflage is not treated as an offense in outside country.

But here where we have high rate of insecurity, this has automatically become our priority
.
Same way homosexuality is legal in some cursed western nations, if we catch you doing it here, we will beat you mercilessly before sending you to 14 years imprisonment

Yes it's not good because that's same thing kidnappers used to lure their victims into d bush ..

Everything no be to dey blame..

The last kidnap in Edo State the kidnappers put on military camouflage while taking the people in the bush they believed they were Nigerian soldiers not knowing they are kidnappers..

THE MILITARY DO WARN FOR SECURITY REASONS NOT TO PUT IT ON SO THEY WILL KNOW WHO IS WHO AFTER ALL IS FOR OUR BENEFIT
You have a good point, it's good they stopped him and questioned him, so many crimes have been committed and the perpetrators went Scott free, in a country as naija where kidnapping and terrorism crimes are high, this action is good, we can differentiate the real military from a hoodwink situation... But then here's my question to you, when you see men on camo mounting the road block, all without badge or with badge, who questions them at all for proof of genuine identity, can you dare?, This is a problem that should be addressed too.

It is illegal in Trinidad and Tobago.

It's not even the usual camouflage colour but the insignia he is harping on. I don't think every sensible person including military personnel will support it if the elderly fellow was rough handled as a result of this

Nigerian soldiers approach an elderly man outdoors and remove his cap after spotting military-style symbols and emblems on it. The man stays calm and smiles throughout as one soldier examines the red patch closely, points it out, and chats with him – no real aggression, just a routine check!

Overlaid text in Pidgin English repeats: "Abeg make una stop impersonating ▲" (Please stop impersonating), turning the clip into a funny yet pointed commentary on civilians wearing anything resembling army insignia in Nigeria.
Under Nigerian law (Criminal Code Section 110), unauthorized use of military uniforms, badges, or symbols is illegal to prevent impersonation – especially with security threats from groups like bandits or insurgents using fake gear. But many online are calling this petty, saying the army should focus on bigger issues instead of harassing ordinary folks who just like the look.

Those putting on such in Nigeria, are nonsense people abeg. Old or young. Or any person wan lie say e never hear stories of how civilians were embarrassed or harassed by these olodo military personnel before?

Troublemakers jhus full everywhere...

While there are provisions in the criminal code prohibiting non service personnel from adorning military fatigues and semblances, to including painting of private cars in military colours.

It should be noted that those laws are civil laws, enforceable only by the NPF and not the military as they can't prosecute in civil laws.

What soldiers are doing is self help, taking the laws into their hands at best.
Re: Moment An Elderly Man Was Harassed By A Nigeria Soldier For Wearing Military Cap by Rindo69: 8:46pm On Jan 12
There was a time in the middle 90s, you couldn't drive any plain green colored car. They made you paint a white line on the car if you had a green car. Assuming Nigeria was the most secure country in the world , we would understand but these soldiers have so much time on their hand bullying citizens while seeing videos of hundreds of bandits not only wearing their uniform but killing their colleagues but they cannot do anything
Re: Moment An Elderly Man Was Harassed By A Nigeria Soldier For Wearing Military Cap by cupidoliver(m): 8:53pm On Jan 12
Where is the harassment?? They didn't even lay a finger on him and they were very right to caution him from wearing a cap with military logo. Especially an assault team special force logo on it. With the insecurity in the country, it's not even safe for the man if he gets mistaken for a personnel and harm him.

Wearing of para military outfit in nigeria is a risk as you may be mistaken for a force man when in danger zone. Is better people stop wearing it. That person might be the first target by robbers, bandit etc
