Toyin Abraham's "Oversabi Aunty" Grosses ₦850 Million At Box Office by cityboylagos(op): 8:27am On Jan 13

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has reached a major milestone in her career as her latest movie, Oversabi Aunty, records an outstanding box office performance, grossing over ₦850 million nationwide.

The film, which marks Toyin Abraham’s directorial debut, has become the highest-grossing production ever released under Toyin Abraham Productions, further cementing her status as one of Nollywood’s most bankable filmmakers. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The achievement was officially announced by FilmOne Entertainment, the distributor of the movie, which praised the actress for her consistency and ability to deliver commercially successful projects. FilmOne also noted the film’s strong reception across cinemas in Nigeria.

In a statement shared online, the distribution company wrote:
“Oversabi Aunty is now the highest-grossing film in Toyin Abraham Production, grossing ₦850 million and counting. It is also one of the top two highest-grossing titles of 2025. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.”

Reacting to the record-breaking feat, Toyin Abraham expressed deep gratitude to God and her fans, describing the moment as emotional and surreal. She credited her loyal fan base, popularly known as Toyintitans, for their unwavering support.

“Firstly, thank you, Lord. Thank you, Toyintitans, and everyone supporting me. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart. I honestly don’t know if I’m dreaming or awake. This journey has been emotional, overwhelming, and beautiful,” the actress wrote.

Since its release, Oversabi Aunty has continued to draw large audiences to cinemas, reinforcing Toyin Abraham’s growing influence and impact within the Nigerian film industry.

The success of the movie adds to a list of box office achievements by the actress and signals a strong start to her journey as a film director.

Some of you are obviously ignorant or just pretending to be ignorant.....just walk into any cinema around you...check the number of tickets sold for that movie at that $3 per ticket..just for one branch of that particular cinema alone ooo..I have not even mentioned other branches..I have not even mentioned other cinemas too and I have not even mentioned the ones in other 36 states of Nigeria.....obviously you don't even attend cinemas frequently or you are just a natural hater....

You obviously don't attend cinemas hence the reason why you are making such comment.....just last week movie tickets for the reigning movies are sold for 7k and above at most cinemas and you need to see huge crowd buying the movie tickets most especially on the weekends.. some are even buying vip tickets above 10k...

We have about 100 cinemas in Nigeria of which majority are in lagos ... we have about 300 screens in the whole country... they cinema business is slowing dying globally due to other home entertainment outfits like Netflix , prime and the rest ... Tiktok and YouTube is mopping up the entertained.... the economy is very slow ...how many sold outs did she or funke get... most cinemas are always empty... I know u will wanna leverage on the festive season...but even at that, they're other movies in the cinemas...

If there is so much money n cinema ...why are the majority moving to YouTube??

You must be a comedian with this your bolded statement.. do you know how many major movies are released everyday ?? Hundreds !!!!!! The total movies that can be shown in a cinema per day is not even up to 200 , so how will all the majority enter cinema ?? Do you know how many Hollywood movie producers and directors are moving to YouTube and Netflix too ?? Does that mean Hollywood movies are not making huge money from cinemas anymore?? Going by your logic..

Anyways people diversifying into YouTube and all that , it does not mean others are not making money from cinemas, there are some movie producers too that will never take their movie to cinemas, they prefer even the YouTube , Netflix and those online platforms.. it's called "preference and interest "...it's not only happening in nollywood , even in Hollywood it is happening.......

Let me give you an example , there is an actress/ producer named "ruth kadiri"..you will hardly see her movies in cinemas whether in nigeria or abroad , but the money she makes from YouTube is alone to make her rich...and it worked for her..
