Nigerian Based In Germany Compares 42% German Tax With 30% Nigerian Tax by BlackViper(op): 9:20pm On Jan 12
Dr. Baridueh Badon writes:

I pay 42% tax every month in Germany but if:
1. I loose my job, the govt pays me 60% of my salary and help to find a new one
2. I have access to 3 years leave if I have a baby with a percentage of my salary and my job will wait for me until I resume.
3. Education is free in govt schools from primary to PhD
4. For every child I have, they get paid €250 monthly until they turn 18
5. I can buy a monthly ticket of €56 monthly and can travel all around the country via train (not high speed) and buses.
6. At any emergency, once you call the ambulance, it arrives within 20 minutes
7. Deffribilators and SOS access are available at every train station and high ways.
8. If I get stock in a country, I call the govt and they come to my support.

Let me stop here.

You that will pay about 30% tax in Nigeria that was copied 90% from the UK tax law, what will you get?

In Nigeria, your tax will be used to fly in the hottest Latino and American thoties. No roads, no water, affordable houses, food, etc.

However, if you live in Lagos, you might have a bit taste of development and civilization.

Anybody must be mad to compare a country with social amenities with Nigeria with practically no government presence. Comparing a country with higher Standard of living, , higher minimum wage, higher level of accountability.

The person must be mad

You mean, Nigerians have no right to expect tax subsidised social services in return for the high taxes they are expected to pay? Nigeria the giant of Africa?

I’ll verify what he said on TikTok from the Germans

I don confam... Nah lie. Germany is battling high inflation and they’re now paying 10x for things compare to what they pay 2years ago..

Before you take any country serious, always watch and listen to comments from the citizens, not some paid random analysts..

Less than 10% of Nigerians pay personal income tax. In fact, only those in well structured paid employment get to pay. Even at that, over 90% of them don’t pay up to 30%.

Again, it’s sad to see people ignorantly thinking their personal income taxes goes to FG. No, your taxes goes to your state government fully. Tinubu gets all the blame for the tax reform while state governors take every personal income tax. Even the VAT, states take 85% while FG takes 15%. Nigeria is probably the only country where the central government doesn’t take a dime from payroll tax. In US, Germany etc, FG takes the lion share from payroll tax. Not in Nigeria.

Some people don’t understand why we’re complaining about the taxes
The countries that tax that high provide so much for their citizens
Also oil producing countries like us in the Middle East don’t pay personal income taxes and yet get great amenities

Nigerians should expect politicians to acquire more mansions home and abroad, more land cruisers, more rolls Royce and marry more wives. If you think electricity will improve or cotton wool will be provided in general hospital then you are naive

Hahaham. I am coming..I day come.

Okay

1. Germany has a higher per Capita GDP. That's because it is an active exporter of manufactured goods and services. I mean we all know at least one international brand that is German.

Nigeria is a country that depends on income from 1.5 million bpd of crude and revenue from tax that never reach 23 billion dollars annually.

2. The man wants Nigerian government to do the same as German government on the budget we have?

Plus Every German pays tax to the central government and state government and even local government . Nigeria wey only ten million out of 230 million pay tax? Okay o.

And he dey compare am to Nigeria where only ten million people pay income tax and revenue from oyel is not up to 100 billion dollars annually ( Germany is spending 600 billion dollars this year as budget, compared to our 36 billion dollars )

We would end up with debts in the trillions of dollars in the next ten years if we did what he is demanding.

Someone wants government to do what 600 billion is doing with 36 billion. ? Na WA o.

Abeg, tinubu government is useless. As are all our past government including GEJ. Because if a country like Nigeria cannot do budget of 800 billion dollars by now, that means all our leaders are useless

And the thing is many Nigerians think that 36 billion dollars can guarantee a lifestyle that 600 billion dollars can cover. Na WA o.

Re: Nigerian Based In Germany Compares 42% German Tax With 30% Nigerian Tax by 9jatriot(m):
I can almost swear that this guy is lying. Most of the things written there are either outright lies or not for everybody in the country.

After they finish selling these types of lies, Nigerians will now do all sorts of evil (even kidnapping), sell all their properties and then japa. Only to get there and find out the harsh realities that what was promised is different from what you get.

The first question any sensible person should ask is, if government does all of these things for people over there whay then are there still homeless people?

What Germans call tuition free University is still higher that what we pay in our public and maybe even private universities. Even though tuition free, by the time you pay all the other so-called small fees, it will add up and be more than what we call school fees here, but technically it is still called tuition-free.

This tax won't work, hopefully someone from ADC like Peter Obi will put it in his manifesto to remove it.

Imagine, who does that in a country filled with these kinds of politicians who embezzle even when there is no more space to stack the money. It will only widen the gap between the rich and the poor. Revolution soon!

Tinubu always copying nonsense.

Worst President of Nigeria that deserves to end in jail with hard labor after his disastrous reign as President angry

He is only trying to force Nigerians to pay for his corrupt lifestyle and to generate more money he would use to bribe Governors and INEC for 2027 election rigging. Anybody that thinks Tinubu invented this new tax to better Nigeria should go and ask what he used all the trillions he generated in Lagos state to do if not to use it to perpetuate himself as Lagos godfather since 1999 and to hold on to power by settling every opposition, thugs, voodoo and witch doctors, etc. angry

Exactly my point. People are quick to rush and tell you so so so country pays higher taxes, but the citizens see what they enjoy with such taxes, but in Nigeria after all the taxes, you will see nothing. Suffering from Jan to Dec until another election promises that will never materialize.

Germany has been existing how many centuries compared to Nigeria that has lost its way since 1960 and just gradually beginning to find it......thos is what we should have done over 60 years ago and by now we would have gotten close to German standard or better, but our lack of patriotism, tribalism and incompetent leaders wouldn't help us.
