I project that Northern Nigeria is leading in many other sectors of the economy too if checked. Why not if they are leading in cement purchases?.

There is not much money in government. Not much money can be made from stealing government funds. The whole oil money is less than five percent of the GDP.

Another perspective is that the federal government since Nigeria got her independence has focused on developing North and the South West (Lagos) while neglecting the rest parts.

Check the % of building and road projects (civil works) very huge % has always been in North.

This thread proves a lot of Southerners have never been to the North. In terms of real estate numbers, quality of housing and architecture, the North is doing much better than the South. Aside from Lagos which is already saturated, not much is going on in other parts of the Southwest.

Yet even Ekiti is paying a high amount in VAT and CIT?. Ibadan is also rated higher than any Northern city in things like startups and infotech. Only Kano can drag with Ibadan in the North. Things are happening across the country but different states are successful or leading in different sectors

Consider the following factors:
Apart from the fact that they don't migrate overseas, they rarely build houses in other parts of Nigeria except very few of their elites which is even minimal.

Another factor to consider is smuggling to Nigeria, etc, due to a very porous border.
Again we need to also consider the fact that while they refrain from building houses in other parts of Nigeria, many southerners build houses in the north including Abuja.
There may also be more constructions going on in Abuja than many other cities in Nigeria though I stand corrected.
