It may be extremely difficult for Tinubu to secure victory with a Muslim–Christian ticket, given the religious demography and sensitivities that shape Nigeria’s electoral landscape.
As a Muslim from the South, Tinubu already represents a religious minority within his geopolitical base, where Christianity is dominant. If he were to further select a Northern Christian, who is likewise a minority in the largely Muslim North, the ticket would effectively become a minority–minority pairing.
In a country where religious balance is not merely symbolic but often decisive in electoral calculations, such a configuration could prove counterproductive.
Rather than broadening national appeal, it risks alienating key majority northern Muslims voting bloc.

This is the reality, it would have been a different game if the Muslim president had come from the North, no one would have dared pair him with a Muslim VP from the South.


If he won the last election with Shetima even in the face of sabotage from within his party, winning again with Shetima in 2027 should be easier for him.
