Shikena:Oh I’m engaging a pikin, sorry. Tinubu is not so daft to leave an old time friend, Ladoja whose coronation he attended and of very high electoral value (11 LG) for a novice, Owoade with far less electoral value (~4LG) whose only relationship was giving Seyi Tinubu a chieftancy title so he could have a crumb from him. Since the coronation, have you seen Seyi associating with the title in the public unlike the Stepmother, Yeye Asiwaju Oodua? If Alaafin is that important, Tinubu would attend his coronation. Heroes rise, heroes fall. Same as kingdoms and empires. |

Nauttyprof:the chairmanship issue has been settled by the late alaafin and even pass to law. Is /2yr tenure which is rotational between the 3kings. If other Kings don't know about it will they attend. Why is it always about the alaafin. |

This man left a thriving engineering career, which spanned the United Kingdom to Canada, to quarrel with anyone and everyone in Nigeria? From the Ooni, to Ladoja and now Makinde? I am sure Makinde must be gnashing his teeth now in regret. Crying, "had I known", he wouldn't have chosen the man to be Alafin. What a messed-up, shrewish, cantankerous person. |

latestsunny:They didn't have/need to consult him and in fact they absolutely should not have, because he was sure to oppose the arrangement Meanwhile he's just another random Oba in Yoruba land, given that the military capacity on top of which he based his claims of pre-eminence is no more in existence Alaafin should take several seats already...himself and his entire people are in actual fact basically homeless, they are tenants on that land they occupy because the whole place belongs to Ago-Oja |

Amotolongbo:Yes, Oyo has 4 LGs on paper but 4 out of 5 LGs in Ogbomoso axis are firmly Alaafin-centric. Most LGs in Oke-Ogun are firmly Alaafin-centric. It's not as simple as you think. Even inside Ibadan, a significant percentage are Alaafin-centric. The current Alaafin has family house in Ibadan, coming from Lawani Agogo-Ija line. |

ajalawole:I really do not understand why we defend blindly and fail to address issues as they are. Why would a governor lie publicly when he never consulted the 3 kings involved? |
| Re: Alaafin Was Never Consulted On Oyo Traditional Council Rotation - Palace by Ojuntana: 5:56am On Jan 16 |
Nauttyprof:Where did you see that he didn't consult the 3 kings involved? Two out of the three kings attended the ceremony. Only one refused claiming he was not informed. So how did the others hear about it to attend the meeting? |

Amotolongbo:God bless you Ma'am on this matter. Is Alafin- tying to be friendly or just antagonist? Why can't we live and let live? Is this quarrel that will make Oyo great State or is there anything bad in Rotation of leadership in Oyo Council? All this ranchor Can Not Add Naira to them and they should All Work in harmony, afterall, they did not tell The Oyo People - that they come to be making Trouble! |

Can you imagine one boy who go hustle for Canada and Governor Seyi Makinde selects him to be. Traditional ruler within his state...the same boy is raising his shoulder for his boss... The pride of this boy made him go hurt am...his competitors then will be firing this kind of discord between his boss and him...because he wasn't meant to be the next Alaafin in the first place...he was imposed on the people in his locality in Oyo State... It should be aware that there is no role of traditional title in the Nigeria 1999 constitution...it wasn't expressly specified...traditional. Titles are exclusively a state matter (residual), so the state governor has the prerogative power to install and dethrone any traditional ruler in line with the process of its state. This Akeem is too proud and insolent for my liking...when he was in Canada, I believe he was among those who were licking the feet of the Oyinbo in this office...but he thought he could usurp and bamboozle people because of the kangaroo nomination of his chieftaincy title... I am sure his days are numbered... Dasuki, the Sultan of Sokoto, was dethroned during the Abacha Era, and Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, was also dethroned...and heaven didn't fall.... |

Duplicated responsibilities between chiefs and elected officials is part of the reason development is hard The traditional emirs in the Middle East are part of government The kings in Europe are also part of government In Africa the king or chief has a court and lower chiefs under him. All draw some form of funding from the people/govt. Regular govt officials too have federal, state and local and all draw funds The Bible says he who doesn’t have (by refusing to invest his talents), even the little he has will be taken away from him That is the problem in black Africa |
