I’ve never been able to get my head around sweet potatoes 🍠. I just never thought I’d like it because sweet potatoes? Like, WTF! I refused to even taste it. I just decided that I wouldn’t like it. I bought it for the first time; a few months ago, because a friend of mine was hyping about all the gut benefits linked to eating sweet potatoes, but I ended up binning them, because they went off in my cupboard without me so much as pilling one of them. So, two weeks ago, I added them to my shopping list again, and they ended up in the back of the cupboard again, but I pulled them out yesterday vowing not to waste them again. I half boiled two with the skin still on them, tossed them in olive oil and a tiny bit of salt, and stuck them in the oven to roast. I made rice and lamb stew 🥘, and had the roasted sweet potatoes on the side. OMG!!! 😱. The sweetness of the potatoes, and the savouriness of the meat and rice; 😵💫😵💫😵💫😱😱😱🤯🤯🤯❣️ I’m now in love 😍 with sweet potatoes. |

Double0h7:It’s good for most people here cos it one of the cheapest proteins economically. Anyway it’s a thing of choice cos my cousin don’t eat fish. I personally liked it smoked or fried not fresh cooked. Thanks for asking and neither was offended with your question. |

ManknowThyself:Thank you for letting me know ☺️. I’m sensitive to fish, it’s always hit or miss for me depending on how it’s prepared. I started eating salmon just last year for its health benefits. It’s the smell that I can’t handle 😷 |

At first I thought I could never like dried catfish. I had only eaten it when it was too hard or too fishy, so I avoided it for years. But a few months ago I tried it properly prepared in soups and stews, and the taste completely changed my mind — now I actually enjoy it and even look forward to it on the table. What helped was learning that good dried catfish isn’t just smoked and dried fish; there’s quality and technique involved. I came across a detailed article on how premium dried catfish is produced and supplied in Nigeria, with proper processing and hygiene, and it helped me appreciate the product even more: https://difarms.com/premium-dried-catfish-in-nigeria/ Now I don’t just eat it — I recommend it to friends. If you once avoided dried fish, try a properly processed one; the experience might surprise you. |

Double0h7:For me, it is masa. it's a popular food in Northern Nigeria. People often eat it during celebrations. When I was five years old, I ate masa at Christmas. After that, I became very sick with a high fever. As a child, I thought masa made me sick, so I avoided it for a long time. Now, I love masa. I eat it as a special treat. Another one is beans. As a child I hated beans in every form—porridge oo, akara, moimoi, I no dey like anything wey get beans, even when beans is mixed rice I dey pick am out. Today the story is the opposite. |
