Growing up in the village, there were certain masquerades that were known as troublemakers; they didn't share stage with any other. It happened if the dead was a warrior... In Obosi, in the 80's, there was this "Otikpo" masquerade... There was "Odum" that would always scale through fence. Such funcumfearcumrespect!

They didn't appear all the time, but when they did, you either joined or gave space - 5-10mins after "raised dust" always settled.

Masquerade has no place in the modern world. Every man for himself. African traditional was so weak they enslaved us and are traditions could not save us. They then colonized us and our traditions were powerless. Trump struck on our soil and we are still powerless. What good is tradition if it cannot save or make one stronger.
