I hear those people can't live on land; I wonder how true that is. I've always marveled on how they could live and go about their normal lives on water. |

Changes is inevitable, if you can't stay in Lagos then relocate back to your village. |

That's a very good decision and development by the Government.... Mega city like Lagos shouldn't have such place as a community.... Moving them to a better place should be part of the plan before demolition too... |

RealityKings1:You think these current crops of political vagabond are smart enough as you are. All they are good at is pull down. Building is never their forte. |

They will now sandfill it, find one sweet name and call the area and then start selling portions at very exhorbitant prices. |

I'm 100% sure that my Badagrian brothers and to an extent the Ilajes will be ones who have made the place their homes... Reminiscent of Otodo-Gbame of those days, I think it's close to a decade since that demolition happened since then there's absolutely nothing to write home about it, same script here. Meanwhile, folks from Ganvie, Benin Republic are also saying hi. |

phorget:Many of them know there as their village. Makoko is more than a century old. Make them just provide something for them. The place was never a decent place to live or raise children. Feaces and Cholera in the waters. |

RealityKings1:That would have been brilliant if those in charge can take the initiative to attract investors but that place is a ghetto so there's supposed to be a lot of evacuation, demolition, before anything can take place there |

Mariangeles:Myths. Madam Google Ganvié. They only want to replicate that in Lagos. If you are Yoeuba you will easily know that the guy that says "A ni bi ti a lo " (we have no where to go) is not Yoruna but from Benin Republic. |

let it be structured to look like Venice and get revenue from it . Anyway, Agriculture is life |

saintbillion:They are not humans, like Seyi Tinubu. So they are dispensable, according to Tinubunomics. Despite the harsh times Tinubu threw the masses into, he still makes people homeless. LASG wouldn't do the demolitions if Tinubu is not president of Nigeria. |

Let's be honest that place was horrible and disgusting. The only wrong government could have done here would be if notice was not given and relocation assistant was not rendered. Same people criticizing government for this are same that use places like this to point out how Lagos is dirty and smelly. |
| Re: "Makoko Demolition: Floating Community Turns to Ghost of the Coast" by Mirasteel: 7:07pm On Jan 17 |
The government should provide houses for them. |

Clearly, the plan is to banish the poor from the Lagos and to sell all their ancestral lands to the Rich. Samuel 8:14 1 Samuel 8:14 KJV: And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.” friends, family, etc |
