I don’t believe in God. Thank nature for being born in the family I landed in. I used stoves only in my university days because of cost cutting. Every other time, gas cookers. My mother sometimes used firewood in a bid to claim “you children grew up soft. This was how it was done in my time.” Body dey quickly tell am. She dropped the act after four days of continuous use.
But you believe in yourself right

You should have leave yourself by not eating or making things yourself cox it's so nature

Mumu people everywhere

I think it was around 1994/95

This stove was existing before abacha's time.

We used it as far back as 1986 long before abacha became president

As for the stove,I didn't see it,cuz not everybody was broke then lipsrsealed
Buhari was not better than Buhari. NADECO and Yoruba media fought him with propaganda..

The same people who fought him are the key figures in APC today. They are the same people making life excruciatingly difficult for Nigerians today even worse than Abacha did.

I no longer buy all the anti-Abacha propaganda they tried to push down our throat.

I witnessed it. I was in JSS 2 or 3 then. There was serious scarcity of kerosene that period.

Abacha do plenty people things that year o. I remember his death announcement. It was as if Nigeria won the World Cup. The whole of Lagos was agog with celebrations. Food vendors gave out free food. Drink sellers did same.

May Abacha's soul not rest wherever he is.

Good day to you Sir,

I think it is a case of mistaken identity. I am not in the gas business.

Please check well. There is a mix up somewhere.

"People are still using it till today" and at the same time, "GenZ will never know it." Why contradicting yourself?

You chook GenZ yarns, come shoot yourself in the foot again. You say people are still using it, mean say them fit know am.
Meanwhile, what people adopted in our area then was the use potash immersed in diesel. The thing been de burn very slow and spoil the wick of the stove. Kai, things were not nice then.

My family used it wella around the year 1999 - 2002, scooping free saw dust from the saw mill. Myself and my peers then always show our saw dust moulding skills, fun memories.

My mum used it . At first it was free and in abundance, later we paid for it and became scarce. I remember we used to stay back at the saw mill to pack the newly saw dust from the saw machine when the scarcity took turns. Tinubu shege na small fraction compared to Abacha own.

May we never experience such again. amen

Most people still using it now do so because of the heat power, closeness to saw mill, and affordability.

It wasn't 1994/5. It was between 1996 - 1998 when Abacha died. And some people continue using it till early 2000
It was in 1994 -1995

There was fuel scarcity then. I used to go and carry sawdust from AMU TIMBER MARKET in Palm Avenue, Mushin.
Re: Who Witnesse Abacha Stove? (Pictures) by Mistersolar: 11:57am On Jan 18
it mainly due to ken sarowiwa hanging, importation sanction was placed on nigeria

Abacha era. It started mainly during the June 12 saga when Nupeng went on strike. The alternative (which we used) was coal pot. Gas and kerosene were not available. We occasionally used electric cooker sometimes... when available.
Living hell!

I saw the stove, we weren't broke but our neighbours weren't financially buoyant so they used it when keep was extremely elusive. The lady frying Akara just across the street also had one and she used it in conjunction with her firewood stove. What a time it was, I shudder this days when people try to whitewash Abacha's regime maybe due to some stupid nostalgia or something, it was really hell for people both rich and poor.

Nigeria has really improved the pain of the past was worse I remember under Obasanjo Jonathan in a year at least 5 times fuel scarcity
Public primary secondary will go on strike university strike was a norm

We can do better as a nation our past was far worse we need a leader who will make us fly
