Lanre1st:"Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the leadership of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, saying traditional rulers must adapt to the realities of modern governance and work together for unity and development rather than seeking supremacy." I won't descend into the gutter and murky morass that is your obvious choice. It is not out of place for a reader of the piece to view the SSA position as that of Tinubu. I suggest you pick up good manners in communication before it becomes too late for you to have a change for the better in this one life God has afforded you! |

All these Oba here! Oba there! What's their people benefiting from the Obas? If the Obas have no spiritual powers to protect his people against amenies during attack (as in the case of Fulani terrorist) then they're just playing. |

Lanre1st:Exactly.. Check the below.. Ife birthed Oyo, and Oyo birthed Ibadan. It's like the Byzantine now saying he is the Oga of Ottoman and Roman. Or the British saying he is the Oga of America.. Na for their pocket dem be oga. ![]() The Alaafin is funny. He wants to take the PDP government of Makinde to court over supremacist ideology.

Oyo empire that dahomey amazonsdecapitated thrice in war? Girls o. Dahomey girls from cotonou killed them all and burnt down their villages they called empires thrice. The same cotonou girls destroyed abeokuta and drove families to live inside olumo rock. And when Fulani came, their alafin calling himself king of yorubas had to write to the King of England and begged him to save him and his family. Watch "The Woman King" |

correctyourself:Some Obas are doing well Sha. The Soun just announced that he would not give any one cheiftancy title except you invested bigly in Ogbomosho. The Ooni himself is using his status to draw investment all over Yorubaland. The Alaafin needs to start doing the same and forget supremacy battles. |

I have said it before all these supremacy tussles between our traditional rulers in the Yorubaland should cease, what we need from them is cooperation with governments to make Yorubaland a foremost region in Nigeria in economics and commerce, education, first destination for the investors and make south west safe and secure. And truly all these empires of a thing have gone, where are Greek empire, Romans empire, British empire, Ottoman empire etc. |

Lanre1st:Bro the Internet never forgets, it leaves traces that can't be erased let me tell you why my analogy is not wrong nor fallacious. Firstly, tell me one notable tribe in Nigeria that is having the problem of traditional power tusle like the Yoruba? If you said the present occupant of the Alafin throne is relegated because he was once disconnected from his people, entangle in a lot of scandals and above all has been banking on the history of Oyo supremacy what about the feud between the Oba of Lagos and Oni of Ife? What about the cancerous relationship between the former Alafin of Oyo and the Former Oni of Ife that extended to the present one? Least before I forget Awujale of Ijebu land Sikiru Adetona and the Alake of Egbaland Michael Gbedebo had a very fragile relationship that the former governor of Ogun Amosun have to weigh in because of power tusle. Apparently, all these kings were born and brought up in Nigeria, or were they banking on history to do what they were doing? Were they also mask with scandals?. Bro! Obviously, the Royal Rumble in Yoruba land is exploding to something else and taking a new twist and if power brokers do not take a comprehensive steps in curtailing this menace and madness something very much dangerous and terrible will happen someday. |

thatigboman:woman king is nothing but a glamourised hollywood version of hisotrical dahomey women fighters. They are strong fighters no doubt but they never achieved any remarkable victory of formidable enemy in war. Oyo empire subjugated dahomey for more than 100 years even with their female fighters. this only ended after Oyo empire collapsed and king Gezo declared independence from Oyo empire. Oyo didnt even respond to dahomey's resistence because they were too weak to mount any offensive. The female warriors were only successful against small villages and towns with reputation for notorious slavers, cannibalist and headhunting. Against abeokuta, they were crushed; and against the french, they were beaten blue black. The Dahomey amazon warriors were never a threat to any Yoruba town at historical time. Most of the Mino warfare was against other kingdoms and tribes in Africa. The Dahomean army, headed by the Agojie, subdued the neighboring kingdoms of Whydah and Popo in 1728 under King Agaja (who reigned from 1718–1740). They also distinguished themselves gallantly in the 1840 Mahee fortress capture at Attahapahms. However, the Agojie suffered their share of losses and failures in Africa. Their humiliating loss to their venerable foe, the kingdom of Abeokuta (in present day Ogun State, Nigeria), was perhaps the most significant. King Gezo and the Agojie launched a significant assault on Abeokuta in 1851. The Abeokutans, who were well-prepared and well-equipped for combat, met the Dahomeans with tough resistance despite their reputation as formidable warriors. The Dahomey army was forced to flee after a furious battle with Abeokuta that lasted several days, incurring heavy losses. As a result, they suffered a humiliating loss against the Egbas. However, although there were brief wars between the two kingdoms in the years that ensued, a peace treaty was ultimately reached in 1894. https://worldhistoryedu.com/dahomey-amazons-just-how-fierce-were-the-all-female-west-african-warriors/ |

Jokky001:It can happen one day, if we have a great person becoming King in Osun state. For example let say Osinbajo become a king in Osun and he interested to be chairman especially if that Ooni is new and weak, that's the story of new Alaafin, he doesn't know anything about Yoruba stakeholder setting or have influence or connect with power, he just come from oversea to become king. US that is most powerful today was Subject to UK in the past, POWER is earn and preserved not automatic |

Absurdity at its peak. How can a sane man be that unreasonable to have said that the history is no longer of relevance and reference? |
