The referee and the VAR are responsible for what happened tonight. The Senegalese goal was legal, but disallowed by both officials. Now, a penalty can be awarded, but it must not be.

A little situational intelligence would have told the referee that he should not award a penalty in a situation where he had clearly denied the opposing team a clear goal in the final of a tournament, and then award a penalty that is purely discretionary, when one considers that the player clearly dived inside the box with only two minutes before the final whistle. Senegal no longer have the time to make up the deficit.

This was a very poor decision, and I support Senegal's stance. They are being robbed.

You are not a wise person. It is obvious that guy was asked to miss that penalty deliberately. If he had scored it and Morocco wins, it wouldn't be an honourable win and for decades to come, that won wouldn't be rated at all.

Senegal retreating towards their own goal is going to make for a very tough 20 minutes or so. But in their attempts to get up the pitch, they were almost stung by more direct running by Ezzalzouli.

His left-footed cross into the penalty area was perfectly weighted and into the path of En-Nesyri but he headed wide!

A striker of his quality inside the six-yard box probably should be scoring there.

Exactly. It wouldn't be worth it. I'm sure they'd have love to do mago mago to win, but that was too blatant. I'm not sure any serious pro wants to win a trophy like that. Not even a quarter but a final.

The keeper dived even before he played it and he played it to the direction the keeper went. I think that was the agreement they had to allow the match continue. maybe I'm wrong cha.

Almost a wonder goal from Mbaye!
105+1' Senegal 1-0 Morocco

This first period of extra time has been brilliant viewing.

After that En-Nesyri chance, Senegal stormed up the other end of the pitch and would have won it had it not been for a superb Hakimi block.

17-year-old Mbaye twisted and turned on the edge of the penalty area and broke inside. His eyes must have lit up as he saw the goal in front of him, but his PSG team-mate was across to deny him from picking out the bottom corner.

Breathless stuff.
