AFCON: Why We Lost To Nigeria – Egypt Coach, Hossam Hassan by adenigga(op): 4:33am On Jan 19
Egypt head coach, Hossam Hassan, has suggested why his team was defeated by Nigeria in the AFCON third-place playoff on Saturday.

Hassan watched as Nigeria defeated the Pharaohs 4-2 on a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw.

Speaking to reporters at his post-match interview, Hassan, who insisted that the match was evenly balanced, admitted that the penalties made the difference.

DAILY POST reports that Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali saved Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush’s penalties.

It was a very even game against a strong Nigerian team. Both teams were well-organised and focused throughout,” Hassan said.

In matches like this, details decide everything. Penalties made the difference.”

Super Eagles was a better side, despite key players missing the match due to injuries. Had the two disallowed goals counted, the match would've ended in the regulation time.

.. nuff respect for the admission.
A true "pharoah" (.. he really looks like a pharoah, though)! cool

Diaz probably deliberately missed that penalty just to make the game to continue

They almost abandoned the game with that late penalty which shouldn't have been given because if it was Senegal that had such foul at that last mins, the referee would have over looked

At least , I was glad the Senegalese returned to complete the match cos they would have been heavily fined and sanctions for abandoning the game

Diaz deliberately missed the kick? How, why and when? Someone who was crying his eyes out throughout the rest of the game and even during the medal presentation.

Don't say that in Morocco, it's a treasonable offence.😀😀😀

Yes, I did. It was a failed Panenka. He was consoled off the pitch after his substitution. He played to score.

Okay. So what assurance was given to the Senegalese for them to have returned to the pitch after initially left for the tunnel?

I wasn't in Morocco and was never part of the Senegalese team. I'm only analysing what I saw on the screen and my analyses are way okay for me. Sadio Mane made the difference.

Were you in Morocco?Kindly intimate us what and what was promised before the penalty.

Okay. So you believe you have the right to analyze your observations about the game but I don't have same right to express my observations?

Diaz probably deliberately missed that penalty just to make the game to continue

Good morning, why did you say: "Daiz deliberately missed the penalty..." Daiz want to be the top scorer and Morocco played to win.

Chukwueze's spot kick was better compared to Daiz spot kick.

look at the build up to the kick...he picked the ball, kissed it...some psychological distractions from the keeper Mendy. finaly,he accelerated before chiping or lofting the ball. and watch his colleague behind him... hand in the back of his head in shock and disbelief. I think he thought that was the best way to take the penalty under such extremely tense atmosphere. unfortunately, he didn't execute it well. come to think of it: what's the point of trying to balance things when he can score, lift the trophy and damn the consequences. he didn't miss on purpose

They probably would ve been banned from upcoming World Cup..
That alone will make you rethink and accept whatever outcome on the pitch. Knowing it can't be as bad as loosing an already guaranteed World Cup slot.

Diaz deliberately missed the penalty. Watch his reaction as soon as the goalkeeper caught the ball. The Senegalese were assured the penalty won't be scored that was why they continued with the match

This agenda would not sell bro.

A Penanka at such crucial moment can go either ways, Diaz miscalculated by using his weak foot. Such penalties are scored on keepers who dives allot (e.g Buffon vs Zidane) not a statute like Mendy. Aguero also tried that against him in Chelsea he saved.

Mendy deserve a credit and Diaz played to score.

Your analysis is wrong!

Diaz kissed the ball before he played that penalty!
He wanted to score, and wanted to do it in an embarrassing way (penanka)

You do not kiss the ball if you plan to miss!!!

It's those who did not watch that game have been the one arguing blindly.

Could you believe when the game was stopped, I had some terrible headache cos I just can't figure out what next. It was like, so I have been wasting my time to watch this competition and it got to final, the match abandoned.

Still having headache till this moment. The Senegalese must have been assured of something before returning back to the pitch. They left for the tunnel initially

He didn’t. He tried to dink the ball in thinking the keeper would definitely dive but he showed too much and the keeper saved it

I don't want to believe that you didn't watch the AFCON from opening match and saw all that Morocco did just to go home with the trophy.

It's only people that do not know how desperate Morocco crave for the trophy that would believe that Daiz deliberately missed the spot kick.
