I was thinking about something lately and I want your honest opinions. My mom and dad we're so in love, they birthed beautiful kids, both boys and girls, unfortunately, This is my question, why do men marry again and procreate even after their first wife gave them both genders? |

Ask your father. He's in the best position to answer your question. |

Peakdesign23:sorry about your mother’s death. There is nothing wrong with your dad marrying another woman provided it’s death that separated your dad and your mum. He has not broken any vow ‘till death do us part’. Allow your dad move on, he has gone through a lot already by loosing someone he loves. If he finds joy again by remarrying, let it be. You are a lady, start working on becoming a better person for yourself. I don’t know your age rn, but in less than 20years, you’ll be out of that house and having your own family, so i’ll advice that you focus on what’s more important. |

Peakdesign23:I realize that I didn’t even answer your question. No woman will/wants to marry you without giving you babies, so your dad have to procreate. |

Let's hope he can cater for his children that he's breeding with his new wife and won't bother Op and her siblings for money to raise his children. Even though death is to be blamed , remarrying at that age requires sense and not just marry because you want to do just flex a young woman. A man in his retirement or nearing retirement should be thinking on how to make the most of his retirement not thinking of school run or running after toddlers just because he lost his wife. What's wrong if he marries for companionship ? |

Peakdesign23:They were so in love yet not long after she was gone, he desired a brand new family...a seek to shelve or erase the past? 🥱🥱🥱 2. Men remarry because they realize the energy that the woman-- note, not any particular woman but any woman---brings to the relationship, they cannot of their own give it or anything close to themselves and those around them. Only a handful of men even try to. 🥱🥱🥱 |

merrymike47:That is a lie! Many women out there would rather be in relationships where they would not be required to procreate. There are many childfree couples out there, even today. 🥱🥱🥱 |

Peakdesign23:Men need a purpose and I am not speaking on behalf of your father but your question is like asking Davido or Wizkid, even though I don't support their baby mama nonsense, that they should not have kids again. Or 2Baba should not have kids with his new wife. Women usually want it, it is used to cement the relationship between the man and the woman. She wants to have his baby. Is there any part of your dad's marriage that bothers you? You sound like it was a bad thing he did considering your mother was his wife so you imagine that he should not remarry. He's a man, he needs to have sex, that's the truth. |

Come to think of it, men from my tribe hardly remarry after their wives deaths, especially if the children were already in their late teens or early adulthood during the time when the wives died. So far I only personally know of two men who remarried after their wives' deaths and their families were not happy with their decisions to remarry... The rest of the widowers that I know only have companions and never remarried... They'd also keep their love lives discreet most of the time. I'm solely speaking about the ones from my province, I don't know anything about the ones from other provinces. |

As long as is death related it's a choice for each of the partner to marry another spouse and by so doing he/she has never broken a marriage vow .. So that's it |

Peakdesign23:Probably?? Your first mistake is assuming that your father (and by extension men) married solely for procreation. The second is assuming that people who do not plan to have children will never have them. In reality, many people are born without deliberate planning. If abortion were legal and Nigeria were not a deeply religious country, it is unlikely that our population would exceed 70 million. In many families, there is at least one child who arrived "by mistake,” and this is a common story across countless households. So, the fact that you see your father procreating doesn't mean he bargained for it. Seeing his new family could also be a sacrifice he needed to make to be with the new woman. How many Nigerian women are willing to live life without a child, worst off with a man with kids? I understand how you feel. Your post appears to come from a place of betrayal and the pain of how quickly your father moved on from the love of his life. It's not necessarily about the new wife/family. But even you, as your mother’s child, are you certain that you have not also moved on? If you were to find another woman today who is willing to be a mother to you and show you deep, genuine, and unconditional care, would you not embrace her? Not making excuses for your father's decision though. I'm big on priorities. Sex and procreation should be least of your father's priorities. I feel like 2 years is too short to fix the most important issues. |
