⚡Canada will not pay to be on US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace”, a government source told AFP Monday, after Prime Minister Mark Carney indicated he would accept an invitation to join the body.

“Canada will not pay for a seat on the board, nor has that been requested of Canada at this time,” the government source said.

The board was originally conceived to oversee the rebuilding of Gaza, but its charter does not appear to limit its role to the occupied Palestinian territory.

Member countries — represented on the board by their head of state or government — would be allowed to join for three years or longer if they paid more than $1.0 billion in cash within the first year, the charter says.

Trust me they're fully on America's side.

You think NATO will kick out the U.S for tiny Denmark? lol
denmark is not really a lightweight even though their population suggests that
as far as modern europe is concerned, they've been around forever
and the nordics have a very strong cultural bond

here's the thing
nato is an historical aberration
you can only unite europe when someone else is on the menu

nato was put up to contain russia
and prevent one of the ambitious, larger european powers from doing exactly what the us is trying to do

denmark does not need to be part of a coalition to contain russia
they've been just as tiny for a thousand years
and they've been neighbors with russia just fine with a few hand wringing here and there
there is no point of staying in nato if the us steals greenland from them
heck, just the conversation about the us wanting to take greenland already eliminates the importance of nato to the danes

the us taking greenland while the danes are pissed will have painful negative consequences
this is europe we are talking about
no dey use post collapse of the soviet union dey look them
that's just 20 years

here are the five nordic countries
sweden, denmark, norway, finland, and iceland
iceland joined nato because of its small population
norway joined because of their large oil/gas deposits
denmark joined because of greenland

sweden and finland were content with not joining nato
until the ukraine war gave the elite class the perfect excuse

you Bleep with greenland
you lose northern europe
and they'll go back to being neutral on russia
and who knows what else would result from the chaos

e get why russia dey pour gasoline on top this greenland fire

starting a fire in europe is easy
containing that fire is impossible
the fire will burn through organically before there's talk about it waning

thousands of isis terrorists at the al shaddadi prison previously controlled by the SDF (syrian kurds) have somehow escaped
both sides--the kurds and the jolani terrorists--are blaming the other side

very very alarming update particularly for the minorities in the levant
and stability in iraq

Somehow I understand his position. It is not a black and white issue especially now Americans have done their assignment years ago. America have the cards because of two major reason.

1) If Trump and EU doesn't reach a deal and escalate sanctions. The Europeans have more to lose because their economy is dependent on American energy supply.

2) The US may withdraw military support and intelligence from Ukraine. Thus, Russia might decide to take the whole of Ukraine.

Even if NATO, cease to exist, the Americans still have potent military power to protect her territorial borders. We can't say the same to Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Poland etc

Europe ought to focus on the war with Russia and Ukraine, because, frankly, you see what that’s gotten, them.

That’s what Europe should focus on — not Greenland.
Europe doesn't have the card. Either lose Greenland and have continued US military support for Ukraine or get Greenland and forget about US support for Ukraine.

⚡Senator Graham:

If Syrian government forces continue to advance in the north toward Raqqa, I will push for reimposing Caesar Act sanctions on steroids.

Apparently no one in Syria is listening to me or other U.S. government officials. If this continues, not only will there be bone-crushing sanctions, it will permanently damage relationships between the U.S. and the new Syrian government. If you think we’re BSing - keep it up.

I’ve tried to be fair to the new government, but apparently it’s falling on deaf ears. If you want a conflict with the U.S. Senate and to do permanent damage to the U.S.-Syria relationship - keep going. If you want to salvage the relationship, stop and turnaround.

I hope you choose wisely.

It comes from the East — from the war in Ukraine.

My greatest concern for Europe’s security is not Greenland, but Ukraine.

The greatest threat to world peace today is the United States of Anarchy.

But alas, Merz, whose economy the US has sabotaged thinks otherwise.

⚡Ships are refusing to enter Odessa due to Russian strikes paralyzing exports.

The Ukrainian Grain Association reported that in January, an increasing number of foreign ships are refusing to enter the deep-water ports of the Odessa region. The reason is the intensification of Russian strikes on port infrastructure and cases of damage to merchant ships.

At the beginning of the week, there was a stable interest from Handysize ships, but from the middle of the week, shipowners began to massively refuse to participate in negotiations," the message said.

This creates serious risks for Ukrainian maritime exports, as Odessa is a key hub for the export of agricultural products, especially grain. Any logistical disruption affects global prices and jeopardizes the fulfillment of contracts.

At the same time, transports through the Danube ports continue as usual, remaining the main export channel amid increasing pressure on the Black Sea route.

Rumen Radev, who has served as president since 2017, has announced his resignation.

He has been one of the key figures in Bulgarian politics amid a prolonged political crisis, repeated elections, and ongoing confrontation between the presidency and parliamentary parties.

Bulgaria’s government, led by the prime minister, resigned in December following mass protests over taxes, the state budget, and corruption.
