samsegs:Which one is selfish mindset? Let me give u a run down. The prices of food will reflect daily realities. Take for instance, let say I offer a service for 50k and in 2024, I could afford a luxury of 100k to treat my self. Then suddently that same luxury is now 150k this year due to their own operational issues, taxes, etc. Now, i will also need to increase my own price to maybe 80k to be able to meet the new price of the luxury item. This is how pricing works. The farm product sellers also have other costs to cover: children school fee, crazy house rent, monster fueling of generator to power both home and businesses daily, monstar transportation fee, etc. The only way they can be able to afford their needs which they need to purchase is by increasing their own prices. U cant expect me to keep selling 50k for my service when what I could afford with that 50k before is now 150k. Price will go down when fuel goes down. Fuel controls the economy. It is expensive right now. And dollar is high. Witjout these two going down, nothing will ever go down. Go and see how much private shcools are calling. Basic private schools o. If govt had reliable govt school, that would have saved millions of average Nigerians the money spent on private schools. I ran two businesses two years ago. Omo, i closed them down. Running business in Nigeria is brutal. I was using generator on both busineses daily. Omo, the money i was burning on petrol was not funny. I will still have to buy fuel for house genrator daily o. Omo, I nearly ran broke. I closed the busineses |

advocatejare:This is the reason i don't like all this apc supporters on social media, and to tell you that 90% of them don't live here in Nigeria and experience what we are experiencing here in real life. Many of them lives in abroad, enjoying the very good good things over there, but they always on social media space analysing how Nigerians are enjoying atm and how things are getting better, how food prices have dropped etc. Then next thing will be to insult Nigerians of how they are bitter and frustrated because their preferred candidate lost the election bla bla bla. Even when the whole situation is glaring at their faces 24/7 😥. I just dislike this apc supporters online..... And sadly or funny thing is that, if you meet them or manage to come across one face to face i mean in reality here they are crying and hungry. Many are looking hungry and frustrated.. I have some families here in Warri, they're from sw of Nigeria, hunger don nearly finished them. $ |

samsegs:. But he should have called the transport operators and commercial in a meeting abi? and say "Hey guys you all have to sacrifice and bear with us" we want to remove subsidy, so 'you guys should not increase the transport fare maintain same charges" Even though your costs will significantly increase making you guys operate at a loss just maintain same charges. Before opening his mouth and declare subsidy is gone! Or it is the various, multinational, manufacturing companies? He for tell them say " ladies and gentlemen I want to float naira, naira will likely reach nearly N2000 to a $. "So you guys should maintain the same prices of your goods and services even though my policies means you guys will operating at a loss, so bear with us the Federal Government " I no know how una dey reason sometimes honestly. Una see black call white. For how long? |

From comments above, I realized that many people don't know that Nigeria’s border is only selectively open. Grains like rice, beans, and maize are allowed in, but items like pasta, tomato paste, sugar, and poultry remain banned. This half-open policy distorts prices, encourages smuggling, and creates uncertainty for businesses. If food security is the goal, consistent open trade with strong regulation works better than bans. You grow local capacity with investment, not restrictions. |

In the western world it is topic like this that trends Food inflation, cost of housing, security, unemployment. In Nigeria the things that trends so well are VDM vs Iyabo Ojo, Davido,Chioma and their new baby mama, Big brother Mercy or Tasha and Celebrity scandals and their new BBL. We focus on the wrong things a lot if not. Why are we not asking questions about subsidy removal. Subsidy removed but no gain, just governors chopping the money. |
