Delhi Police Bust Nigerian Drug Syndicate; Arrest Two With Cocaine And MDMA by Peterobiisathie(op): 2:23pm On Jan 18
Delhi Police’s Crime Branch busted an international drug syndicate operated by Nigerian nationals and arrested 2 foreign citizens, with the seizure of cocaine and MDMA tablets worth around Rs 5 crore.

The seized drugs included 418 grams of cocaine and 925 MDMA (ecstasy) tablets found during raids conducted in south and southwest Delhi.

Police said the first accused, identified as Frank Vitus Ume (47), was earlier arrested in an NDPS case by the NCB. He was apprehended after a tip-off on December 2, 2025, and was allegedly supplying psychotropic substances in different parts of Delhi while frequently changing locations to evade arrest. A raid led to the recovery of cocaine and MDMA tablets from his possession.

Based on his disclosure and subsequent technical analysis, the team traced the source of the drugs to another Nigerian national,” said DCP (Crime) Harsh Indora

The co-accused was identified as Sunday Otuu (53), who was arrested from Mehrauli. Police found 15 ecstasy tablets in his rented accommodation.

The accused told police that the syndicate was operated by a kingpin based in Nigeria, identified as Elo Chukwu, who allegedly used couriers, including an African woman residing in Delhi, to deliver drugs concealed in gift packs.

The accused were allegedly coordinating drug deliveries across Delhi and neighbouring states using social media and mobile numbers registered in Nigeria.

Police said Frank came to India in 2012 on a business visa for garment export and later got involved in drug trafficking after facing financial difficulties. Sunday, who arrived in India in 2015, also for business purposes, allegedly joined the syndicate after incurring losses in the clothing trade.

No one was born a drug dealer condition made people choose this hustle. Both of them lost their businesses while over there.

Merhauli with the train station and a big lake, one very dirtiest part of New Delhi, with a good population of Nigerians living there. Streets gutters there are very black and dirty and similar to Nigerian black and dirty gutters. That place is similar to Ajegunle, Amukoko or Okokomaiko in Lagos.

Meanwhile, there’s a huge population of Indians in Nigeria, working good jobs in the plastic, oil/gas/, pharmaceutical and other industries. They find Nigeria very attractive. Unfortunately no such opportunities exist in India. You cannot get jobs. Even setting up shops is very difficult.

Even though more economically developed and very stable, Nigerians can do better than such criminal acts.

How we foiled Jonathan’s effort to make Mulika Adeola Speaker, Akande reveals

AS president in 2011, Goodluck Jonathan did all he could to ensure South West grabbed the country’s number four seat, including lobbying then opposition leaders from the zone, to no avail. The North West eventually grabbed the seat, supported by South West leaders in opposition to then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Former Governor of Osun State and now statesman, Chief Bisi Akande, made this revelation in his autobiography, “My Participations” which is currently dominating political and national dis- course.

Aminu Tambuwal, now Sokoto State governor, won the seat, against the preferred pick of his party, Mrs Mulikat Adeola Akande, from the South-West. Defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, then a fledging opposition, which had Akande and his soulmate, former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu, as front- line leaders, openly asked its elected members of the House of Representatives, mostly from the South-West, to work against their region and back Tambuwal from North-West.

The opposition party’s support carried Tambuwal through the contest against Akande, then ruling party’s favourite for the speakership seat.

In his book, Chief Akande revealed that former president then as incumbent, personally reached out to Tinubu, who is now believed to be nursing presidential aspiration in 2023 and himself, but couldn’t convince them.

He wrote, “President Jonathan, immediately after the meeting (with political parties), called Bola Tinubu aside into a lobby to broach the matter of ACN support for a choice of who would become the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“That same day, President Jonathan talked to me on phone about the same matter. He disclosed that PDP had zoned the position to the South-West but that only one Muraina and another Mulika won elections on PDP ticket from the zone into the House of Representatives.
